Default Tomas Bodin - The Flower Kings

I recently discovered the Flower Kings I am impressed by the abnd on the whole, thats the good old times in the 21st century! Tomas Bodin impressed me very much. His sounds are fresh, his playing very good, still, he always plays to support the song, not much high speed "wanking".

On the Flower Kings DVD (I can recommand the DVD to anyone who wants to see some fine Prog Rock) his setup is:

Clavia Nord Lead 3
Clavia Nord Electro
Fatar SL880
Some other Keyboard
Waldorf Pulse
Akai S5000 Sampler

What do you think of Mr. Bodin?

He's a great musician. I watched the FK DVD some time ago and it's so impressing. Tomas Bodin does have some more recordings for those who haven't checked out yet. A friend of mine lent me Sonic Boulevard and it's great. He really makes some amazing sounds.

a very iteresting approach to sound design.

Tomas rocks.. the other keyboard he uses on the DVD is actually a Roland VK-7, however he uses it purely as a Midi controller on the video (you'll notice that all the drawbars are pushed all the way in). There's a huge rack full of stuff behind him, not sure what's in it. In the rehearsal footage on the disc, he's also seen using a Korg Prophecy.

Hi I'm very happy to know that there are people who like Tomas. He's one of my favourite keyboardists, and he's actually my first source of inspiration. As you said he sounds very fresh. I like his sounds, his leads sounds are so warm. If you listen to "Unfold The Future" you can notice that he's great on building great background sounds expecially using the arpeggiator. (take a look at "Monkey Business") I think he's my favourite arpeggiator user. Tomas has a unique style, he's some kind of progression of Tony Banks. This is what I think about him. I can't wait to hear the new FK album "Love Supreme". Take also a look to the demos he played for the Clavia. You can find it on Clavia Homesite. Bye.

Is it the 'Meet The Flower Kings' DVD you're talking about?
