Korg=Good JR lead sounds?
I was wondering if i got the new Korg Extreme, would that have capability of making/programming a good lead sound that sounds like the leads JR uses frequently? i listened to the demo on korg.com or "extreme Ra" and it sounded decent. Someone told me that his leads are "too thick" to have on a Korg because it requires up to 7layers sometimes. But i heard from someone else that i could "fake it" in combi-mode. whats the backset in doing it in combi mode, if i were to do that? i have a feeling i may not get the exact same lead sound, but may i get pretty close? im interested in Korg cuz i heard its easy to use esp. for programming, and i am a newbie at programming. id appreciate anyone's opinion :D

The thickness can be done on a Korg (2 layers op program-mode, and 16 programs in sequencer-mode...that makes 2 times 16 = 32 layers thick....in theoriy), but the question is if it will sound the same. I think you can get pretty close. Remaking exactly the same sound is almost impossible even if you have a Kurzweil. Both synths can make great lead sounds, so choose whatever you think fits you best.
What i like about the Korg Triton is the interface (really easy and fast soundediting). What i don't like: it's midi-connectivity and filteringoptions, it's hard to use in a setup with multiple midi-connected instruments. I think the Korg sounds sometimes very organic...perhaps that is in de filters. Sometimes the sounds are too extreme though.
What I like about the Kurzweil is that is perfectly build, a heavy duty keyboard, so to say. I can't say anything about interface or midi-stuff since i'm not familiar with that. I think the sound-engine is very divers. You really have alot of flexibility, but it's sounds a little "digital" and cold sometimes, in my opinion....a bit industrial maybe. But the piano's are great!!!
Remember these comments are just my opinions, but perhaps it helps you.

1 Program=2 Oscillators=2 Timbres.
1 Combi=8 Programs=8*2 Timbres=16 Timbres.
1 Sequencer Track=16 Programs=16*2 Timbres.
Deceit.

Ehh...you can get OK sounds I suppose.
Too digital sounding for my tastes.

hey, thanks deceit. FL, have u heard JRs Extreme RA off of the Korg website? its under the Triton Extreme mp3's. I think it sounded cool, and there is a lead sound that sounds pretty close to his sound, but not quite.
FL, does Kurz tend to have a less digital sound to it's leads?
