View Full Version : Would this produce feedback?

Hi everyone! I've been thinking on doing some routings in and out of my firebox but before that I would like to ask here and try to clear my doubt.

I ve been thinking on the MIDI/VSTs tracks I have on my cubase. I would like to playback those tracks in which sound would be coming out of my firebox main outputs. Then send that output to my Bluetube to insert a bit of tube distortion to that completely digital signal, and after that insert it back to my firebox to re-record with the tube distortion.

I dont know if this will produce a killer feedback, or will give some offset problem of the new recorded track not being laid at the exact same point as the original, you know because of the signal flow out and back in.

Any thoughts about it?

Thanks in advance, Andrés!

The way you describe it, you're sending the main out to the Bluetube, then back into the system while presumably monitoring on the main output. That will cause feedback. You either need to re-route the original output to the Bluetube so that it's coming out of a secondary output, not the main output, or monitor the processed input from something other than the main outputs.

You'll also get a little processing lag, but it shouldn't be too much, and it should be consistent, so you can shift the whole track if necessary.

Excellent reply, thanks a lot!
One thing that bothers me of the firebox is that it has 3 pairs of outputs, but I can only select 1 pair at a time. I'll need to try to select the alternate output bus from the cubase itself and not the firebox software, but I dont thinks is going to work either. Anaways, you confirmed what I thought.
