I use the Boss FV-500L as my expression pedal. It's rock solid and looks good.

I also use the Boss FS-5U as my "patch change" pedal. It does what a switchpedal does, so it wont make any difference from any other pedal with the same purpose.

I have Boss EV-5 pedal, which is okay. But now I wonder - why didn't I take FV-500L? the price was the same...

I use the KORG XVP10 expression pedal with my Korg M3.

i have the Korg XVP-10 as volume pedal and the Korg EXP-2 as expression pedal on my Korg Tr. Have no problems with it

i don't know what switch i have, otherwise i could tell you to not buy that one :P. It's definitely not a Boss
Need to buy a new one someday.

I don't get why people like the Boss FS-5U (or its black cousin, the -5L) so much - they're HUGE; the actual pedal bit is so far off the ground I find it uncomfortable to use.

I stand by the Yamaha FC-5 - i've had one for almost a decade, and it's still pretty much as good as new.

It also has a rubber backing, so it doesn't slide on wooden theatre stages, which I think the 5U might - I seem to remember having to gaffer tape several 5Us down so they didn't slide off as the keyboardist used them ;)

The yamaha pedals DO slide... well.. more like "jump" away when you release. It doesn't matter how good the grip is. It will get away.

On to the Boss switch... I don't mind that it's big, because it's supposed to be "stomped" (when used as patch change), not played like a sustain pedal. Also, it's still possible to play it like a sustain pedal unless your feet are tiny.

I've been looking for an expression pedal (control voltage pedal) though, and I'm surprised at the lack of options in that department. Maybe they're just not useful...

I don't use the pedal much. In fact I only use it for some Wahwah. To be honest, I can do the same with al the other controllers on the M3. So I find it not a necessary equipment so far, only a thing that looks cool. And the XVP-10 looks

The pedals I use are all the cheapest in their class:
VFP 1/25 sustain pedal
Very nice sustain pedal, it has the realistic feel of a piano sustain pedal. Slides a little bit away on my carpet floor, but stays where it should be on almost any other floor type.

Bespeco VM18L Expression pedal
The cheapest (25€) expression pedal I could find, it works, but doesn't really feel rocksolid, cause it is all plastic. I hardly use the pedal, since I didn't found out a way yet to use it as Wah on my Fusion :P. If you go for as cheap as possible this is the one, but for solid, really intensive use, I'd get something more sturdy (WOW that Boss FV500L looks like a tank!)

Yamaha FC5 foot switch
For patch changing you might want to have a Boss FS-5U or FS-5L. I use my FC5 for this task and I sometimes tap it accidentally, changing sounds while I don't want it to happen.
The FC5 could very well be used as a sustain pedal too, but comming from the piano I prefer my VFP 1/25. It doesn't jump at all cause it is so low, it has no place to go when you are close to releasing it. It's superior grip keeps it in it's place even on my carpetfloor.

On the one hand it is great that you can get all your pedals for ~50€ total, but if you are not a poor student and are on the road a lot with your gear, I'd say get some solid stuff.

Assign the expression pedal to your low-pass filter cutoff point in the modulation page of your synth patch ;)

I find the opposite, tbh - although I did use the FS-5U as a sustain pedal rather than just a patch changer, I found it uncomfortable to use, and because of the angle I pressed it (which wasn't straight down or near to that - closer to 45 degrees, because of the way I rest my foot on the pedal), it slid away from me, whereas the FC-5 didn't. I guess it's one of those 'YMMV' things.

Hi!

My father bought me a PROEL PVP14L volume pedal, but I dont know how to use it with my Kurz2500. It seems it can control only volume, it has 2in and 2 out, its a stereo volume pedal. If I plug into any cc slot, the synth doesnt get any midi signs.

So, if it is the cae, that it can be used just a volume pedal, can someone lighten me up that how could I use it effectively as a synth player? It is a gift, I dont want to sell it, i want to use it. Is there some cool method? Becasue basicly I wont use it, cause I do controlling thing with switches, switchpedal and sustain pedal.

And what expression pedal can you mention worth buying?

I wouldn't mind a volume pedla myself.

These are extremely useful, especially in live situations. Here are a few examples:

Fading in a Pad very smoothly
If you keep it at about 80%, when solo's come along, you can bring your volume up a bit to make yourself stand out from the rest.
You can do violining with synths like you do on guitar.
You could assign it to outpus 3 and 4 and play a piano patch through 1 and 2, then ahve strings routed through 3 and 4, then bring those in gradually and seamlessly with the pedal.

That is just a few things you could do with it.

Oh, yeah, really! That's a point! Using it through audio outs. Ok, thanks, it didnt come to my mind, i wanted to do it with exp midi pedal, but it will be good! THX

Same as serfox, they are very useful playing live, with say and organ or strings, to do whatever you imagin with volume change. I personally have only used it as the organ swell and sometimes to fade in/out any sound. Some may find them not very useful, as you may just assign your mod wheel to do the same thing, but have the mod wheel free for anything else is pretty nice!
