I might get to play the opening act for upcoming Iron Maiden concert!

Hi to everyone in the forum!
I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys.
My band is participating in a competition to open Iron Maiden's first concert in Colombia. We've made it to the final 8 bands and we will be playing a live performance this weekend that will determine the winner.

Hey congratulations for making it so far, and good luck with that contest!
I understand the exitment, actually this is going to be the first time they play in Costa Rica also, and as soon as the news spread around this became chaos!! Presently there is lots of discussions in many rock/metal forums were some people propose such and such opening bands and many others dont want an opening band at all. Anyways..... Good luck with it, it might be a one in a lifetime experience!

It'll be not the music that wouldn't make you guys famous. It sounds awesome! I love the surprising chord of the keys on Dreams of Sorrow.

When the news first spread around, people here got crazy as well. Most people don't want an opening band. The thing is there's some sort of legal issue for concerts and events in colombia that states there must be a performance from a national band. The company that's bringing Maiden, evenpro, decided to make the selection a contest (it was planed as a reality show :smile: ) so that people could be part of the process (voting or something).

Unfortunetly people are very jealous and have filled the different rock/metal forums with agressive comments and really ofensive criticism.
Still, I hope we win. We had great luck last year. We got to open for Symphony X and play in Rock al Parque (one of the biggest festivals in south america), and this would just be the greatest way to start for 2008 :biggrin: .
