hi everyone,

in what seems to be my never ending quest for finding a sound module....ive come across another one....problem is, just like every other sound module ive read up on, i cant get my hands on one to test the sounds....

does anyone have a the TR Trinity rack or a trinity keyboard? If so can you fill me in on the quality of the sounds (especially the bass sounds, becuase it will mainly be used to sequence base lines for cover songs eg beatles to van halen to jamiroquia)

also if anyone has any idea, what would be a good price for one? I saw 1 for AU$900 on ebay....

Thanks,

Adrian

I use a Tr-Rack as main sound module, and it's great! Many sounds have almost Triton quality. The Bass sounds are good, fretless Bass, DX7 Bass, funky Slap Bass also great Synth basses. Organs (especially Church Organs) are nice as well. It's a great workhorse, because of 512 programs and 512 combis + multimode. But it doesn't just offer bren'n'butter sounds, it also has a wide collection of unusual sounds.
I paid about 400 Euros (Maybe ~ 420 U$) for mine, at ebay Germany, they sometimes reach the U$600 tag. One disadvantage is that you can only edit the sounds via PC (basic paramters like cutoff and stuff can be edited at the module itself

Bread and butter meaning everyday usage type sounds...
your strings, brass, piano, organ, bass, drums and traditional synths.

I would recommend it for sure, because the sound quality is high enough for most people. 48 khz Samples :) Motif Rack is also cool but more than twice as expensive.

Sorry about all these questions what exactly is the AI2 sound generation method that korg boasts about? Are they electronically generated tones or wav samples? Kirby mentioned 48khz samples which i assume means wave files.....is this correct?

Trinity uses ACCESS Synthesis, which is more than a progression over their AI2 Synthesis found in models like 01/W, M1 and X5d, for example you have threee filter types with resonance, while the AI2 synthesis offers only one without resonance. All these types of synthesis are subtractive synthesis with samples, they just use a cool name.

Hi!

Lowpass 24/db/oct, lowpass 12 db/oct (sounds smoother), highpass 24 db/oct are offered by the TR-Rack

For synth basics this site maybe help you: http://www.synthesizers.de/synthesizer-basics.html

Well im the new Proud owner of the TR Rack!!!!

Ive only had a quick play with it, with some of the sequences ive done. The volume levels are all cool, but the panning commands just doesnt seem to get through to the module.

Why do i always have problems with panning    , does anyone have any tips..... Kirby :?

Congratulations.

The panning thing. 90% of the time it's the stereo effects. Even if you pan a signal before it goes into the effects, the effects typically sum the signal and then split them out acording to their algorithm. So try turning off the effects to see if it fixes the problem. If you want that specific stereo effect in mono, you may be able to route sound into an auxiliary out and do the panning in a mixer. Or in your DAW.

Na its as though the panning doesnt take the levels. On the Pan menu, i have it set to prog, but it doesnt take the panning levels. I want a L000 for click C46 for bass and R127 for everything else.

Im starting to clutch at straws now.
