You know how Rudess has recently been talking about somehow being able to control sound and light simultaneously?

Well, I have been doing a bit of research lately and have found out that lighting desks can actually be controlled directly via MIDI using one of many programs that run even on a Mac. What do you think?

That's been a standard feature of lighting desks for decades :P

I'm actually knocking up a little piece of software in Max/MSP at the moment that will allow me to save my own scenes and chases on my laptop, rather than on something like a Zero88 Fat Frog - not sure if it'll work yet, but it's fun to play with.

Doesnt roland's V-Link allow syncronized lighting with your playing?

You know how the Kurzweil K2600/Korg Oasys lets you trigger samples on certain keys?

Well, lets say we want the Oasys to trigger certain midi signals along a certain channel, and that signal was sent to a lighting desk to turn on a strobe. That would be so cool!! And then maybe another key would change the colour of a light, and then stepping on the control pedal will change the whole light setup as well as the patch on the keyboard.

I think so, yes. And video.

Oh the fun you could have. :D
