Happy New year every body!!!
For the need of dreamologie (http://bootopia.yourmajesty.net/index.php?title=Accueil) the huge french Dt's encyclopaedia, I'd like to know the entire gear of Jordan since he started to play keyboard. I think it would be easier just to mention the live gear otherwise it would be too long.

Let's take an example :

Live with Dream Theater

1994 : 1st concert with DT Kurzweil K2000

1999 : K2500XS + K2500R

2000 : K2600 XS +K2600R

2002 : K2600 XS+ triton rack +K2600R + karma +

2004 : K2600 XS + triton rack + K2600R + karma + free hand music pad

2005-2006 : Oasys + Continuum + Modular Synth + Roland Vsynth XT + muse receptor + lap steel

2007 : : Oasys + Continuum + Modular Synth + Roland Vsynth XT+ muse receptor + radias + memotron + zenriffer

Soon : Nord Wave

Stands (french traduction of Standbuilder's post)

2000 : simple stand en X

2002 premier stand rotatif le "cilinder"...

2003 deuxième stand rotatif "truss"un cadeau d’anniversaire

Pendant la tournée avec Yes : le stand"rings"

2005 Quatrième stand "corner truss"

2007 The "hand". Construit par Eric Laxman construit à partir du “rings”

2008 Nouveau stand toujours rotatif

Hmm, I thought Jordan used kurzweil exclusively at that time.

looks good to me, except that on the octavarium/chaos tours it's a v-synth XT, the rackmount version.

and i think he uses a mackie mixer, i'm not sure which one tho.

You're missing his Fantom X8 and Fantom XR, awhich he used in other live gigs, for his rhythm of time tour.

Jordan wrote : 1. What equipment do you use in your studio?

I use all Kurzweil keyboards. My main controller is a K2500XS 88 note weighted keyboard. It is fully loaded. I also have a 2500RS loaded rack, a K2000VP keyboard and a K2VX keyboard. In addition I have a Micro Piano. As far as non- Kurzweil instruments I own a Korg Wavestation- a Lync strap on keyboard, a Mini Moog-Portables include 2 Casio samplers and 2 Yamaha CS01's. I also play and own a Steinway piano and a Hammond organ.

For sequencing I use MOTU's Digital Performer, Midi Time Piece AV and a 2408 audio interface. My computer is a Mac G3 266.
Other equipment includes:

* Mackie 1604 16 channel board.
* Sony MP5 effects processor
* Kurzweil DMTI interface
* Tannoy studio moniters

LIVE- I've been using ONE (1) 2500 only - with no other external modules or effects. For Dream Theater my plan is to use that keyboard PLUS my 2500 Rack. This will enable me to keep one of the instruments in the KB3 mode (which is an awesome Hammond simulation) while the other instrument performs everything else.

write me in private for more :)
heavy new year :)

Hey there....

Happy new year to you too!!!

Well, considering the stands:

2002 The first rotating stand... The so called "cilinder"...

2003 The second one... The so called "truss".
Just something different and... a birthday present.... :biggrin:

During the tour with Yes, Jordan used the "rings" stand. Stand #3...

2005 The fourth one... The "corner truss". For the Continuum and Lap steel
guitar....

2007 The "hand". Built by Eric Laxman on a rotating stand (the rings) built
by Yours truly.....

2008 Am I allowed... Something completely new.... Still rotating, but NEW!!!

That's all I know, concerning his stands....
Yes, I also have to think about my business, hahahaha.

IIRC, prior to his switch to the Oasys, Jordan's rig consisted of a K2600XS, 2 K2600S Racks, 2 Triton Racks, and a Karma all feeding into a Mackie Mixer with Peavey KB5 amps.

When Octavarium was released, he added a V-Synth rack, the Continuum and a Muse Receptor.

Jordan never used a Muse Receptor live while touring with DT AFAIK. He only use it in the studio, as seen in the Systematic Chaos making-of DVD. I never saw the Muse Receptor in live photo of Jordan's rig

it's there, no doubt.

if you got the edition of Keyboard Magazine that featured him about a year 1/2 ago, you can clearly see it. that was on the octivarium tour. and it's still there now on the chaos in motion tour.

I remember that I saw a picture of Jordan's rig for at least the Chaos in Motion tour and he had a receptor just over the two V synth XT

Here is a picture from octavarium tour with the two vsynth and the receptor

Thank you everybody for the information.I have edited the fisrt post, keep sending me information, and of course if Jordan could give us more infos about it

Oui oui ADN on se connait bien sur :D and did he really use the K2500 during the metropolis 2000 because the K2600 was lauched in 1999

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jordan use the K2600 at "Scenes from a Memory"?

No, because it was recorded in '99 and k2600 released in '00. If you see the Jordan-Portnoy 'Bondjornooooooooooo' homevid, you can see, its a k2500. He used k2600 on tour.
