Ok maybe not. But anyone who needs a highly portable (12 POUNDS!!!!!) Semi-weighted but GRADED, 76 key controller, just for practicing or for live use, at a ridiculously "feel like you stole it" price, should check out the new Yamaha NP-33.

I havent actually gotten my hands on one yet, but the descriptions I've seen look very promising. Personally, I think it's best application would be as a live board in conjunction with a 61 key workstation.

This is a pretty decent review here...

Oh, and did I mention it sells for $300!

Oh, and it will run on 6 AA batteries!

Here is Yamaha's page for it...

I predict this thing will make a great stockin stuffer in a lot of musicians' homes this christmas.

NO way 12 pounds!? 6 AA batteries, $300. Actually being able to take a Graded key controller places with out breaking your back, thats awesome.

Dont be such a bigot! Casio would be offended.

i think the NP 30 will really fill a space for muso's looking for a light stage piano, seems like a fine Yamaha addition.

And we don't want to offend Casio, do we?

But you can hook up a DC Adapter, and it looks like a real nice keyboard to put in the practice room of our band. So maybe I'll hook up with one.

76 semi-weighted keys and only 5.4 kg? NO WAY!

This is very suspicious - low weight/price usually means bad quality :frown:

Okay, you can make a very light keyboard, with good quality, for example Nord Stage compact - 73 hammerfall keys , + very good build quality/sound engine, sound set, features (9.4 kg), but it's 10 times more expensive :frown:

I looked at this a couple of weeks back, when I was having a bit of a spending spree ;) However, the one real drawback as far as I can see is that, other than the headphone out, there's no audio outs at all! It's the same issue as the P70 has which makes it not as useful as the P60 or P80! It's probably fine as a MIDI controller, but what if you like the piano sound too?!

I'm getting my first keyboard soon (I hope) and this looks good and all but I kinda need a pitch bend and some synthesizing controls  Yamaha PSR E-403 it is for me

With no audio outs, It's just toy
You can use it as a midi controller, but why shouldn't you buy pro midi controller with sliders, knobs and pitch bend, instead?
It have the same price, weight, more sliders with no sound set, which you would not be use anyway, because it doesn't have audio outs!

Well, I didnt see that, that is pretty lame. But for that price, it wouldn't be too difficult to open the thing up and put in a split between the sound engine and the internal amp and run that to a pair of 1/4" jacks on the back (which you would have to drill holes for).

That was pretty boneheaded of Yamaha though.

Why everyone is surprised at the weight? Casio did it like 2 years ago with the Privia, it only weighs 11lbs by the way. I say this Yamaha product may be their answer to the Privia series. 2 years too late for me :)

Yeah, but thats a CASIO! This is a Yamaha. It's not news if Hyundai comes out with a $12,000 car, because that's what they do, but when Jaguar does it, people notice.
