View Full Version : My pitch wheel is going weird
Well I had a problem awhile ago with my K2500xs, the thing was the aftertouch only worked on black keys and not white keys.
Just yesterday I sort of knocked it against the wall on accident, and somehow my aftertouch started working on all the keys again. Only problem is now, my pitch wheel isn't working properly, sometimes the pitch wont bend back up after going down.
So does anyone know how I can possibly fix it or buy a new potentiometer? I'm pretty sure that's the most likely problem, and the Kurz website seems to have stopped offering support for the K2500

Have you tried running the scanner test (press 4,5,6 simultaneously, wait for a couple of seconds and then on the screen presented try moving the wheel and see what happens with the diplayed values)? If numbers are jumping around it probably is a pot problem, so you should contact Kurzweil support for further info - or maybe someone here knows the pot type. In any case you can contact them for help.
Thanks, yeah when I bend and release it, it lands on any number between 120 and 135, but it says the pitch wheel center is 128. By the way whats a pot?

Pot is an abbreviation of 'Potentiometer' - an electronic term for a knob.

EDIT: Strictly speaking, faders and other such devices are also potentiometers, but by common usage, a 'pot' is a knob, whereas everything else is called by its proper descriptive term - 'fader', etc etc.

You've always got the option of restoring it to factory settings (after you back-up everything first, of course). I had trouble with a K2600XS a few years back where the ribbon pitches would jump around randomly when sliding across it and while playing the keys, the pitch would just start to descend little by little. A reset solved all the issues.
I make no guarantees that this will solve your problem though. Just my two cents.
had the excat same problem
replaced the potentiometer - problem solved.
