After over 10 years playing, i have finished off my first real qualification in music. This morning i sat my Trinity ATCL recital diploma. Basically just had to play a programme of music from all genres that goes for somewhere round 30 minutes, no big deal.

Thing is, at the start of the year i was with a different tutor and when i return to college to continue music i was told by my college music teacher that my playing was abysmal and i had no tone, sound quality or style. She suggested if i wanna pass this year, and get my diploma, i should change tutors. So i did, i have managed to polish up a programme of about 32 minutes of music from all the major genre in classical music in about 6 and a half months, to a level that my teacher described as amazing, and my tutor describes as the best ive ever played (she had heard me previously play and hadnt bee impressed)

I feel somewhat special at the moment, even if i dunno if i passed, just at having come this far. Just thought id share my happy moment with you guys

Congratulations, man!

I've been considering music school lately, but still not sure if I want to go through with it (plus it's expensive as hell).

Congratulations, it always nice to accomplisch something.

Was it a music school or a conservatory?

I have my music school diploma for couple of year now.

I wanted to do conservatory, but there is absolutely no way a classical piano player could enter there (Jazz departement). Besides, playing Jazz is not really my thing. I would like to be able to creat my own stuff, and I have a good technique already: I don't need more for now. I do lack theorie knowlegde etc.
I can develope my technique on my own from now on.

But I had to choose, so now I study Audio Technologies.

I did not gave up though... I have 3 years to prepare for entry exams of something different - Music Producer: it's less playing, more composing and recording. I think it will suit me better, and it's only 3 years studying, instead of 5.

Anyway - don't listen to people when they say that if you stop following lessons, you will automaticly stop playing. It's bullshit - I play now more than ever before!

Thanks for your support guys!!!

@normthesamurai

my complete program:

Bach - Prelude From the English Suite No 3 in G Minor
Mozart - Piano Sonata K333 (complete)
Chopin - Nocturne in B flat, op 9 no 1
Sculthorpe - Sonatina

I will try and record them and post them sometime in the future.

Did it through Trinity Guildhall, not a con, as im not playing to continue music as a career (trying to get into psychology at uni atm)

I just wanna have time to develop MY playing and soloing and how i feel about it for a while, using the theory and music knowledge so far. And i really hope i dont stop playing lol.
