Ok, so theres a small chance I might end up working in Holland for a while (year or 2). Not sure exactly where, but it will be one of the big port cities.

So I wanted to know about stuff like cost of living over there. I will probably be making somewhere in the neighborhood of 25k Euros. Is that a decent amount to live on for a single guy? How much is rent over there fora 1 or 2 bedroom (prefer to have some space for my gear)? Are utilities really expensive? How much for groceries/food per month typically?

Any of this information or other stuff you might think is relevant I would appreciate so I can make an informed decision.

Thanks.

Hey there,

Rent isn't cheap over here, I guess you have to count 600-800 for that.
Ofcourse you wil have gas and electra which isn't that cheap (another 200 or so)

Supermarkets and so are OK. If you don't do too much take out food you will survive. Maybe a 40-50 a week for groceries

Furthermore you will have insurances and stuff. Don't know if you have to pay for that too.

25k is an average 'middle' income in Holland. Dont' know if you counted your 'holiday allowance' which is 8% of your gross yearly income.

I guess you will make ends meet, but it won't leave you much to save up.

But still, have a good look, ask for rent-addition and you will be sure to make it.

And hey, come over once :P My whole family loves DT XD

Ok, thats about what I figured. I wanted to make sure it wasnt super expensive compared to here, but it sounds like it's roughly the same. Anyone know any apartment listing sites in English? Or even in Dutch (I might be able to get an idea if there are at least some pics and/or area (ie sq meters) as well as the price.

Also, are there any useful Dutch phrases one should know?
