A keyboard solo is much more than just the scale you use - what sort of music are you playing? Do you need to use a lead sound, or will a piano/mallet patch suffice? Does it need to sound busy, or can you use fewer notes and still get the same message across? Before you sit down and start shredding, think about what you want to say with this piece.

I agree with Loki.
The solo has to fit in the context of the song from the scale/mode, tone and down to the feel of it.
A good starting point is figuring what type of tone you want to use, a solo can be done on any instrument which opens up so many different ways to play it based on the tone. Think the Piano vs Monster Lead vs Hammond B3 would all be played differently for a solo.
Once you have your tone figured out you then look at the section your going to solo over, make sure your playing in the same key or a mode that layers that the underlying track.
If your a beginner at soloing start off with playing along with the chord progression that your playing over and embellish on the notes as your going through. Eventually your going to hear where you can start to change it around and it will still make musical sense.
There is lots and lots of stuff I'm not covering, baby steps...

Learning a few solos from established names doesn't hurt, either. It helps you to really analyze them in depth. Find a transcription of a solo you like, (or, for the daring, transcribe it yourself) and learn to play it. It should help you figure out how the pieces fit together, so to speak.

When I play solos, I like to use more techniques than the scale or tone. I like to use the controls of the keyboards (joysticks, SW keys <Triton> , Knobs for realtime controls). These are things that gives to the solo, some personality, or good details. I prefear those things before an specific scale or tone.
And then, obviously has to fit into the song (tone, style, tempo, etc..)
