The JP forum's would, they are mostly metal heads who're into the fast solo's and blood videos of past heavy metal. This is a nice video..

I recognize some of that 3D stuff too... from someone who made something ehre, so 'this' was the 'big stuff' they had planned.

Let me disagree. Ok, the video for "Pull Me Under" is rather cheesy with the evil hanging vampire guy. BUT, it could have been cool at the time.
I love "Another Day". Ok, they all have that post-80s look but it was 1993, and people were so different. Same for "Take The Time".
I am very fond of e.g. Tori Amos, whose first videos have that late 80s feel. It was part of the look at the time.
Then people started listening to grunge rock.

I didn't really get the point for "The Silent Man" video. Same for "Lie", which was cool anyway with all the Ray-Ban showoff. Oh and "Hollow Years" was the last video they shot before this one, evidently showing Derek's coolness and that mafia-band look on the car.

"Constant Motion" is a modern video with modern looks. Who knows, maybe we'll be ashamed of showing this in another twenty years. Ashamed of what anyway? Maybe we'll be ashamed of James's maniac stare, of the 2d fire, of straightened long hair...it's music anyway, it was 1993 as it is 2007 now...all the music business lives and relies on contemporary culture to survive and keep going.

Personally I don't really like it, but I don't hate it...I mean...it is "Ok". I think DT should show off their live performance rather than a lipsinked video clip without any "goal" exept to be played on MTV...Listen to a Tool videoclip and you'll probably understand why I say that.

Well... Congratulations Jordan on from what I beleieve is your first ever musc video! I love the video.. but I myself am not too thrilled about a DT video.. It's a bit... Unusual for the past generations of DT... Prepare for some changes in the fan community...Moreover, the video is great and I enjoyed it from start to finish, despite the song being cut several times heheh :tongue:

Also, BlobVanDam I'm soooo glad to see that the decision was to put your animations in this VIDEO ITSELF!!! You must be very excited!!

Most of the shots are sped up in the music video (to double speed I would guess), so the actual video is only half the speed is looks in the music video. So it IS actually on fast forward. Too late to tweak it now anyways, video was sent off to DT 2 weeks ago. Sharp of you to notice though.

As for variety of 3D shots, I gave them literally enough footage to make the music video entirely of my 3D, and yet it seems to look like only the same few shots, mostly sped up. I would personally have just used the swinging ball shots, but I love the music video overall. DT are looking very cool and seem to have found a look that works well for them without trying to hard to fit into the metal crowd. I like the colour tint they added to match the 3D aswell, but there were a few shots that I wouldn't have used. A great return to music videos for DT though. The ant flicking it's head makes a great intro.

No chance of anybody seeing the complete videos here, sorry. You'll have to wait for the tour. And what you've seen in the video is only taken from less than half of the footage I created for Dream Theater, so there is still much more to see at their shows. I am very excited that they wanted to use my 3D in their music videos. At least if they don't do a live DVD for this tour, I'll still have some offocial record of having links to DT. :D

3DS Max. Also a lot of Photoshop involved too to create the textures, and Premiere Pro was used to piece all of the little videos together to make the full videos.

I hope they get tons of success with Roasdrunners marketing and hopefully we will see DT in a 50k clip so money isn't a limitation to their inspirations.

I have the version of the video without my CG in there at all, and in that there is a shot after the keyboard solo has finished where JR is quite obviously visibly playing the last little run and last sustained note of the solo, except it's in the part just before the chorus or just going into the chorus.

Well I'm guessing they played to the full version of the song and then it was cut down afterwards, so I'm guessing the fact it doesn't line up would have happened when cutting the video, not when JR was playing it.

Yeah I really think they will do that either after the asia tour, or after the south america tour. Biggest chance after the asia, so they will be there in february I think... And I´m in sydney in August XD
