I've been looking for those two racks but I don't know yet which one is
better for my purposes. I'm searching a good synth witch can create
cool leads and pads ,but also more funky stuff like superstition and "tight"
horns. Anyone has got experience of these racks? Myself I'm thinking
triton, but I have heard that it hasn't got so good piano sounds.

You can get add-in cards for both with better piano sounds. The Motif has serious timing issues when used multi-timbrally, there's been a few articles in Sound On Sound about it. The Triton is generally highly regarded, although I'd be tempted to go for the Roland Fantom XR now.

thanks for advice!
I remember synthguy's post of synths and there i got an image that
rolands strong points are brass sections and brass leads, i have also
played some rolands (Rs50,70) and their sounds are very brassy.
I'didnt like them very much, yeah they are cool, but their aren't just
my style (yeah I said that I like "tight" horns but i think there are too
many of them in roland.) Of course I haven't heard that new XR and
its almost impossible in here finland, because lack of music stores.

I think they corrected the timing glitch in the Motif right?

They improved it considerably, but from what I understand it's still there, not as noticable, but can still be a problem. They refused to work any further on it. There is a workaround though, you put your drums and anything with a sharp attack on the earliest channels, and anything with a slow attack on the higher channels where it's less noticable. Note that this is only 2nd hand information, I've not actually used one myself.

I see many pros using triton rack (including Jordan).
,but when I go and listen to it's sounds from korgs website,
i find all orchestral sounds sucks. Also classic keys feels
like there's only pianos and bright pianos, where's cool
rhodes stuff?. Classical piano sounds are quite good, (they
could be better) and the drums are groovy. When it comes
to band playing , I dont need drums alot. But what is so
revolutionary in Triton that it's so popular?

The Sound on Sound article was specifically in regards to Motif Rack, not the Motif keyboard or Motif ES. The SoS article makes no reference to what kind of MIDI interface was used despite our numerous inquiries. Needless to say we're are sceptical about the test as we've never had a single user in the US complain to us since the update that corrected teh issue.

Keyboard Magazine also said in their review that the problem with the Motif Rack was corrected with the OS update.

BTW - Sound on Sound made no mention of MIDI timing problems, in their review of the Motif ES.

Where are you getting this information? Second hand information is a dangerous thing.

Read the threads at Motifator.com and see if a single user has complained of a problem with this issue since the OS update. There is a specific forum area for the Motif Rack and I have yet to find a user that is having this problem.

Yamaha products do have a system for prioritizing polyphony. Priority actually starts with MIDI channel #10, then 1, 2, 3....etc.

Ease of use. Versatility. Great Synth, Lead & Pad sounds (and impressive FX too).
Best on-board sequencer. I love Orchestral sounds and Strings in particular (but piano is too thin).
