Hello ppl, JP Forumer here, the name's Andre, from Portugal.

Ok so I need a little help. I want to buy a synth, but I want to keep it under 400€ (530$ +/-). I'd like something reliable, with good sound quality, don't need too many effects (only chorus, reverb, etc). It's sole purpose is to provide background harmonies for my songs, I have no interest in solos.
Also, something that could be plugged into my pc would be great, although that may be asking too much for the money.

After searching a bit, I stumbled upon the Yamaha S-03, but I'd like some reviews on it from you guys. I have the possibility of getting an used S-08 for 550€ (something like 730$?), but I don't know if it's worth it, considering what I'd get and what I'd use.

So please, any help is appreciated

Thanks

EDIT: Keep in mind I'm a guitar player, so my "keyboard knowledge" is extremely limited.

For what kind of music? The yamahas are quite nice, maybe a korg trinity could fit that price.

Prog Rock basically. Is the korg trinity still in production? I'd prefer a 64 voices polyphony

The trinity was replaced by the triton, which in turn has been replaced by the new Korg M3 (i believe).

you might be able to find one on ebay though, so have a look there.

Prog rock has a lot of characteristics: Synths, pianos, organs, strings etc, any sounds you desire the most ( in terms of realism) or dont you mind???

Actually all those sounds interest me, that's why I didn't specify, sound quality is a must.

I looked on ebay and I actually found one in germany, but the guy only has one pic, gonna ask him for more, because I don't wanna risk getting one all beat up.
