Mixing through your monitors & recording instruments from/through them.

Not the done thing?

What I mean is if I buy a set of cool monitors will I be able to play through them or just use them strictly for mixing duties?

I know this mite seem a silly question but it' one I have to ask.

I say that jordan ages go has a set of Mackie's & I was thinking does he write music on them & mix on them to? I know he has outside studio supports...ie:outboard gear...engineer's...etc.

Thought it would be a cool question.

Studiomonitors are 'true', concerning sound. So, they (try to) reproduce the sounds, without coloring it. For recordingpurpose, I program on them and often I practice on them, cause they are already patched to the synth ;-)

However, you have to get used to listening music on studiomonitors. Hifisystems color the sound in many ways and on good monitors, you get the sound from the CD, without the change through hificomponents, wich most of the people are used to.

Anyway, I progam sounds for liveuse on my livemonitors. They react like a (small) PA, so I can better judge bassparts...
