Well this is my first post in this new message board, well I wanna develop the Comby Synth that Korg OASYS PCI has, this is the link to listen that patch
http://www.korg.com/audio/synths/pressure_lead_(comb_synth).mp3
a friend mine also gave me this little file showing me how to develop it, so It's almost made but I wanna know how to create it using any VSTi synth.

well, generally speaking leads are customized to the musical style you're playing, and in this case I'd say generally speaking sounds like synthy late 70's/early 80's music... Really depends on what you're going for.
My personal taste is much more metal/progressive based so first things first:
You need more presence. The lead is there, but I can't picture it cutting through a mix very well. Also, I'd suggest losing the vibrato. You wanna do vibrato, you should probably have a good hold of it on your own instead of making it sound mechinical.
You're going to want more layers. If you detune them or not, that's up to you. Also, maybe try an organ wave or something a little less... Thin. Again that presence makes a difference and some bassy sound *even sine* wouldn't hurt.
Let us know what style of lead you want, and I'm sure we can help! :)

Well I like the Jordan Rudess Old Lead sound (used in Metropolis II) which I already could reproduce  , The new lead sound (Used in Train of thought) which I would like to develop, Derek Sherinian and Vitalij Kuprij to mention some.
I like to reproduced the mentioned before because I liked it (I probably wont use it too much) but I would like to have it as an available patch.
I you can help me to develop any of the mentioned in this post I will be appreciated.

Well, Start with Saw layers, if you have 4 layers available try this:
Saw, Square, Clarinet and Organ *partials or maybe just a slightly distorted organ waveform*
Take the 4 layers, distort them slightly and have a reverb effect. Make sure it's monophonic. Also, mess with some pre-distortion compression if you can, but it's not all THAT important.
Make sure you detune the Saw and Clarinet layers. *just slightly* which will help get a thicker sound.
Try that to start and see what happens. *If you can't get a clarinet, use a triangle waveform, and if you can't get the organ, use a sine*

Wow thanks! I have a keyboard which has no more than 4 layers available and I'm trying for years now to create a good JR-like leadsound. Your tips helped me very good!!! But instead of a organwave I use a flutewave which is pitched one octave higher to produce some feedback which sounds pretty cool.
Thanks again
