I need your opinion on this guys...
Now my setup is:
- Triton extreme
- JD-990
- Kurzweil PC2R
- Korg DW-8000
I definitely want the sounds from roland’s orchestral expansion, (there is something with the harpsichord and choir in this exp. that makes me cry…) so I was thinking about a Fantom XR, a SonicCell or a Juno G.
Based on price and in Juno G looks, very vintage and with a nice key action, Am I right?, I’m thinking about getting one, so here is my questions…
- Can we compare the juno G synth power with the fantom?
- Will the expansion in the juno sound the same as in the fantom?
- (As a Jd-990 owner) will the juno G add great value to my setup?
thanks!

Juno G has only 1 exp board I think.
Fantom XR has 8, if I'm not wrong.
Yes - you can compare it to Fantom: they all have the same sound engine, and you can play all patches of the Fantom with Juno.
But some waveforms are different, I think.
- Yes, it will sound the same (see previous answer) - All SRXs work with onboard waveforms btw.
- I have no experience with JD-990, but I think Juno G or Fantom will add plenty of new stuff to your rig.
Considering your rig, I recommend Fantom XR, because you already have a lots of keyboards, and XR has some stuff Juno hasn't.

i've check them out and the fantom XR also only has 1 expansion board, hmmmm on those 2 its a pretty close call,
i did like the design of the juno G, and its so light that if you play hard the thing starts to jump, great fot practice and gigging without roadies, it was voiced Ok, some stuff is familiar from fantoms and Xp's nothing espectacular but all solid, the keybed sucked ass, no aftertouch also, but it has that 4 track recording.
the fantom Xa felted better build, heavier, but the keybed is the same as the juno g so it also sucked, no aftertouch, but it had the trigger pads.
there so close matched its amazing that its not the same keyboard in silver and in black (although probably they are) so if you're interested, try them out very closely at the dealer, take a good look at www.rolandus.com (http://www.rolandus.com) and see what features better suit you, just remeber there pretty much the same.
Ive said it before ill say it again,
Where Is Roland's Common Sense?
putting the same product on the same format (only 61 keys) to compete with each other....
BTW id recomend the ultimate Keys expansion, its just the most AWESOME Famous roland sounds.

How about some yamaha stuff, a motif with PLG's could work very well for you.

Fantom X rack (or XR) has 6 exp boards... do you mean Fantom Xa?

Well said! It just does not make any sense at all!
First - they make Fantom X, and then they start to make striped down spin-offs.
And why is it called Juno G? It's like Moog creating a workstation and calling it MiniMoog Z of something....
They just waste their resources and time...
