Rack question

I have couple of questions:
I have a DX-7, and i would like to expand it's voices with a rack.
Let's say Triton rack, how does those work together? In DX-7 there
are 32 buttons for patches, witch will be sent via midi to rack and I
can control sounds with keyboard. But if i have to use more than
32 patches? Can I arrange my own patches ((in direct order)like in
keyboards) to some user bank and then change them with a footswitch
or some like that, or do i have to be next to the rack that i can press it's
buttons to change patches?

There are a number of ways of doing it. In general, the midi method is ergonomically preferable to the front panel method. Check out this thread at musicplayer, which might provide some ideas:
