I'm looking for a new keyboard, most realistic feel to a grand piano possible, portable, most accurate piano sound reproduction. My limited research so far had led me to the Roland RD-170. Looks like a winner so far, but I haven't played it yet...
ANy feedback on quality, recommendations, etc. are appreciated.

Hi and welcome to THE forum! You will find a lot of information in here. If you're looking for information about gears, you have better chances in the Gear Talk section.
I am also looking for a keyboard that has a good piano feel, but which can give me crazy times on the synth aspect. For now my choice has stopped on the Motif ES 8 but I have just played the non-ES version yet, so I wait till I get the feel of it (and the money to buy it of course :( ).
Good luck!

I found the RD170 to feel and sound absolutely gorgeous, there's nothing to compare with it for anything like that price IMO. Roland have really found a winner with that board, it's a superb beastie and comes thoroughly recommended from this party (and not just because I'm applying for a job with Roland ;-))

I bought one last christmas, I'm extremely happy with hammer action and the piano sounds excellent, the other voices are alright but there isn't much to the synths, but if your just looking for a great piano sound I'd recommend it. But there is always the RD-700, more expensive but has alot more features.

What price ranges should I expect between the two and 2nd, What added features of the RD700 standout as the most desireable?
THanks for all the good info.

The RD 700 has alot more more sounds and effects and also an exoansion slot, but considering the price (around $1700 to $2000) you might be better getting a proper synth if you want those features, but if you just want a stage piano I'd recommend the RD 170 which is around $1200
