So who else has picked up Alex Argento's solo cd "Ego"? I've been waiting for this cd ever since it was announced like more than a year ago. Alex managed to get some incredible musicians together (Marco Sfogli!!!). Well this is one of the most refreshingly kick ass instrumental cds i've heard in a long time since. Very progressive and fusiony but everything still grooves like hell, and I just can't get enough of this tasty soloing. I think it shares a lot of the same qualities that JR's solo stuff has. And awesome production for something mostly homegrown! I give it
Anyway, if you haven't gotten it, check out some samples here: http://www.myspace.com/alexargento

yeah, but now we need a non italian opinion
I ask Joop Wolters, a Dutch guitarplayer.
He jammed several times with Alex..........
And I'm convinced Alex would create a great CD

I ordered it the day it was released and still waiting for it to arrive in my mailbox. I'm in the US, so I guess it'll take some time.

Got it today, and there was another surprise in the mail box, Quantum!!!!!
Haven't listened to them enough times, but man, as Axiom was saying, Ego is easily the best CD I bought in years. Thanks Alex.

Well i havent bought the cd to be honest (I'm kinda saving), but ive heard the promos quite a few times, I admit it... simply great, though i would say i liked PT's latest better, but hell its still good, and as someone said a little up, very good for someone who isnt really a pro (meaning someone that doesnt live from it, yet). Keep going that way alex, and youi'll soon be a healiner.

Being a guy that spent a good deal of time listening to Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Jan Hammer, T Lavitz and many others from the great jazz fusion era of the 70's, I can say without a doubt this is absolutely one of the coolest recordings I've heard in a long time. Alex has done a brilliant job of combining jazz fusion with metal and very progressive arrangements. Using modern synth tones mixed with vintage keyboard sounds, and a really superb guitar sound, this CD is ear candy. The guitar and keyboard work is simply fantastic.
The drums are tasty and sound incredible. I don't believe I can say anything more then....."GET THIS CD".......You will love it !!!

++1  And it gets better with every listen. One thing I really liked is the mixing/mastering quality. The sound is fantastic. But it's only the icing on the cake.

Holy asspotato! This is GREAT. Thanks for giving me tips about this guy, I just have to get his CD now. I've only heard one song of him as of yet, but I just know that this is good shit! That Moving around E song rocked real hard. Reminded me a bit of Guthrie Govan, but I really enjoyed this song more than his stuff really. Marco Sfogli is indeed an amazing guitarist and Alex Argento sure is an amazing keyboardist as it seems.
i just received the Cd yesterday ... very amazing music at all levels .. composing
performing and producing it dosn't took me lot of time to notice that's will be my favorit cd in this YEar
