Alrighty, I just got my K2600XS two days ago...and it's awesome...and to my surprise I found myself reading hte instruction manual (I'm prone to never looking at them)...

I had a questino though...the keyboard came with like 30 floppy disks, now I know those are suppossed to restore your keyboard if you wipe everything off...but are the FARM disks already loaded? are ALL the disks preloaded onto the Kurzweil?

Also, it came with some "RAM" but I don't know whetehr I should install it...

Can someone help me out...I looked at the manual, and it's so confusing and thick to read and this is the first time I have anything like this...also the keyboard came with what looks like a network card (except it isnt', it's the best I can describe it)...

Someone help me with setting the rest of this thing up cause all I have is the speaker plugged in and the keyboard on but I have tons of floppy disks, RAM, and some other stuff that came with it that I don't know what to do with.

Congrats with the new Kurz. You're going to LOVE it!!! Depending on where you bought it from will probably depend on what's loaded; however I would tend to assume that wherever you bought it, they would have given it to you ready to go. The disks are usually given as backup files. It would seem really silly if they decided to let you install all those ROM's. Not a good customer service move if that was the case. I would just assume that they are all loaded. The easiest way to find out, is to go to the back of the manual and in the appendix it will list all the factory sounds. See if they match up to what you actually have loaded in. You probably got an upgrade for more RAM. So when they installed the new RAM they had to take the old out. It's probably your old RAM that's in the package. I think the Kurz displays the RAM when you turn it on...although I never really paid attention and since I'm not currently infront of it, I couldn't tell ya. Hope this helps. I just got mine in October and I haven't even had time to dive into it yet. I've just been using mostly factory patches for now. Not to mention it's my first real synth so I'm just learning how to do anything, but wow, I'll go to the local music store and play on the stuff they've got there.....and I'm just so glad I went with Kurzweil.

Yea, I havent had any time to sit and read and try new things...but the factory sounds are so great I couldn't imagine making any better ones...but yea, thanks, I think that I have extra ROMs to install (orchestral and contemporary) in the keyboard and then I'll see what else that came with it that needs to go in.
