It's not a bad unit but it doesn't respond to matrix C.C. (continuous controllers) that are on Korg and Kurzweil ribbon master keyboards.

I heard some one say that the sample rate is low in comparison to the XV-5050. (32kb vs. 44kb)

For me I have a JV-1080 but want to replace it with a XV-5050

is it any way of sending me some sounds of jv-1080? or posting them on the net or something like that? i'd really like to have some sounds of it...what's the cost of xv-5050?

You know what Rexx, I think the sample rate was indeed 44.1k
I had one of those about 9 years ago when they first came out.
You are correct about the controller situation.

For that price, you're better off getting a better deal on ebay for
a used Roland XV 2020.

The JV1080 has better (warmer) sounding DA converters and more bas than JV2080, XV5050 , XV2020...
I think this is very important.

My hands-on experience of the module is limited, although my old keyboard player had one and used it for pretty much everything, pretty versatile and nice sounding bit of kit... for that price, it sounds like a steal, so I'd say "go for it" :)

Bringing up a REALLY old topic, but i find it actual...
Did you buy your Jv-1080 from Ebay?
I have now change to have this Roland + Orchestral rom 1
for 300€ (350$) and i think it's worth of buying. is it?

Note that i'm on Finland and i'm not sure about that Ebay thing.

no, I don't think it's worth it, because for a price like that, you should be able to get TR-Rack...So don't buy it unless it's in very good condition...I've payed $208 for mine...

Hmm... Maybe i don't need TR because i have Triton,
i tought that i buy JV-1080 for different sounds, and so.
Where did you get that so low price, Ebay?
I have a problem in ebaying, i'm not 18 and i don't have a major credit card like visa or mastercard...

EDIT:oh i forgot.. it should be able to handle 230V because here finland,
that's the problem in "abroad trading"

Hi Last Viking!

I recommand you to check out ebay.de, because there are many JVs there. If youi have a bank account, money transfers into the Euro countries are no problems, they are also cheap.
A big advantage is that you can edit the sounds of the JV without the computer. The TR-Rack doesn't offer this.

The XV's and Fantom are quite a step up from teh Super JV's. The JV's are more than adequate for gigging etc. And they will probably continue to show up on some CD's. Here are some charts with the specs:

There's nothing wrong with the JV1080. I'm still discovering new tricks on an XP50. It's just that there is an audible difference.

The JV1080, 2080 and 1010 are Super JV as are the XP series. The JV880 and prior is a JV. You are looking at a Super JV.

ooh... Now i see, i was confused because some places it was only JV and some others
Super JV, i tought that "Super" is some kind updated version of JV.
