Learn piece in a short time ...?

I don't know how you do it, but I have some problem to learn piece fast... I'm in an orchestra (pianist) and I receive a lot a pieces that I need to learn in a short amount of time and sometimes I have problem with them... Do you have some tips I might use or some technique to learn a piece more easily ?

Are you playing solo or accompaning? Cause the solo parts it is just practice, practice, using a metronome will help you to keep up tempo and stuff. For accompaning, look for the major ideas, then all the notes are not that important, unless you play like harmonies with the melody or so. That might be a way to learn solo things as well, know your scales, write down the chords of every bar, so that you know what material you have to work with.
