OK everyone.
You can be the first on your block to know the news about my new solo album.
I'm presently finishing up the keyboard tracks for it now.
After thats all done I will get the drums recorded followed by the guitar and vocals. Of course the bulk of the sounds will be generated by yours truly!
As far as the content of the music goes, this is the story:
I'm actually doing covers! I'm going back to some of my very favorite progressive rock songs and doing my own versions.
In addition I will throw in a very progressive new tune.
Here are some highlights for ya-
Tarkus- ELP
Dance On a Volcano - Genesis
Just the Same- Gentle GIant
Sound Chaser - YES
That's not all of it, but a lot of it!
Also gonna record my Steinway here at home and cover some other classics.
If you saw me open for Blackfield, you might have an idea of the flavor that I am talking about.
As far as the guests go, I am not ready to announce them.
Looks like things are lining up nicely though.
I will let you know when it is all set.
For the album cover, the great news is that it looks like David Mattingly (who did the cover of Feeding the Wheel) is lined up again.
The album will be released on Magna Carta Records.
I don't have a release date for you yet.
Soon I will announce the title....
That's all for now.

DANCE ON A VOLCANO!?!?
I would like to mention at this point that DoaV is -the- song that got me into prog music, and broadened my musical horizons a hundredfold.
I for one am really looking forward to this album :D

OMG TARKUS!!!! The song that got me into ELP and prog.
He once mentioned that he also had a version of KE9 2nd impression that he played in RPM, I wonder if it'll make it on the new album.
To be honest I'm not excited about listening to any version of RUSH I'd rather listen to a prog version of "Light my Fire", imagine that. Anyway...
I'm guessing he's also working on Refuge's "Some day" which he has mentioned it is his favorite recorded solo.
Once we get the full song list I advice everyone to check out the originals first so you know where it all came from. Personaly I'd never heard Genesis "Dance on a Volcano", I only recall Triumvirat's from the Pompeii album... hmm, think it's time to expand my CD collection with one more album.

I'm looking forward to this as I prob missed out on all these classics. Norm I wouldn't listen to. Great to hear that Jordan doing his take on them & putting new
modern & classic values to them in total Jordan style!

Dude, you do not have a copy of "Trick of the Tail"? That's, like, required listening! :) One of THE BEST prog albums EVER. Genesis at their absolute best. (w/o Gabriel).
I'm blown away by seeing DOAV on the list, but not terribly surprised. Jordan has said in the past the Trick of the Tail was one of his favorite albums.

yeah i know the first time i've heard about Encores, Legends & Paradox (ELP tribute) i thought he was playing tarkus, but Sherinian did it, and quite good actually, jordan did karn evil 9, i wonder how close or far he did it from the original, its probably one of many Highlights fron the album, especially since he is quite fund on that tune.

A few years ago when Derek was promoting his "Planet X" solo album I asked him to autograph my copy of Encores Legends & Paradox to which he replied "am I on that thing?".

Wow I gotta get my hands on that CD, since Karn Evil 9 is my favorite ELP song!
I've always thought that Dream Theater should cover Karn Evil 9.

I hope Stone of Years solo on Tarkus will be done with an Hammond sound (instead using a lead, like Emo's doing lately). :P
Can't wait :)
