If there are any missing entries, please let me know. Voting will close on the evening of October 6th. The top 3 tracks will then be sent to Jordan for review. Some general suggestions on voting: speed does not equal emotion, my friends. In the finished article, all that matters is if a piece of music 'moves you' or not - there is nothing more important than that. While technical proficency and speed are impressive and very important goals to attain, they cannot stand on their own without emotion and groove. Keep that in mind when voting. ;)

Good luck to everyone!

Another, in my opinion, important thing!
Those people who want to vote: Please download and listen to ALL entries before you vote, otherwise it may be unfair for those who come later in the alphabet, Pedrokey :P

Thanks! I thought it would be fun to do more of a "trade" type solo, and I was eager to try out the B4 plugin that I just got 8). Ibanez86 did a solo "duel" also (on keys and guitar) which was cool as well!

vlakeys files doesn't work for me! - I download the whole file (1444K), the download program says 99% and it doesn't finish the download!

Suggestion for next time:
Scrap makes a ZIP of all files and uploads it, so that nobody can change his or her version when the poll thread is open!

Yes, I agree, it's not fair when you listen to 3 solo's and then cast your vote. You don't have to vote NOW, you can wait till you've listened to every solo (or almost every solo).

Btw: don't vote for yourself :P

Wow Sead, that is the craziest solo I have ever hear!!!

I want to do my solo again! lol I can do it better  .... Keep votting people!

Btw, What do you think about the sounds? I like the Synthz Sound, and many others... I'm using a fuc$$% Korg X5D .. Can you beleve it?

I think there must be a limited number of entries for each contest.. It's just impossible to download all of the songs and rate them.. There may be a "first five songs will compete" limit or something, IMHO..

sheesh... what a bunch of complainers y'all are.

can we do this? we should do that. but everyone should do this before doing that.

yes. everyone should listen to everyone's jam before voting. is there a way to be sure that everyone has done this? no. it's called the HONOR SYSTEM...

and if you don't have time to download all the tracks and listen to them... and then you want to complain about HOW you don't have time to download all the tracks and listen to them... i've got a solution for you....

DON'T VOTE.

chele (and yes, i DID wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.)

What she said. If you don't want to spend time downloading, don't vote. If you don't have a broadband connection (I downloaded all of the tracks within 15 minutes), consider moving into the new millenium. ;)

Thanks Pedrokey! I'm using Korg 05R/W, and it's an older machine than yours! hehehe... it has basically a same engine as X3 & X5.

Wow, not voted yet, just listening through, and there's some great stuff there. Sadly I was ill, so wasn't able to get anything done in time... next time :) I made a playlist of all the solos, gradually narrowing them down until I get to the one I want to vote to.

I'd like to see a list of the instruments each musician used for their solos, cos there's some really cool sounds that have awakened my gear lust even more :)

Alex Argento, wicked sound, and I loved the bit that sounded like a tremelo-picked guitar! Way cool :) How did you achieve that? Nice sound too, what synth are you using?

Vlakey, I loved the little bit at the end (after the authentic DT solo bit) with the descending runs. Very cool :)

Ibanez86, you're annoying cos you play both guitar and keys really well :D And I'd never have thought of the idea of playing guitar on my attempt :)

Quili, that start just blew me away! And a great idea to do something different than anyone else, with the organ... really stood out :)

To see where I'm coming from before I make my vote, I narrowed it down to a shortlist of 5 that did it most for me. No offence to anyone, but my personal fave 5 (in no order) are:

Psawink2000
Vlakey
RBarkhouse
Quili
Alex Argento

Really tough decision between those 5... *really* tough. In the end I've gone with Alex Argento though, for approaching it like I wish I could've done :)

Yeah, I was going to post that myself.. just forgot about it at the time I voted, and never got around to it. There were some really cool lead sounds in the mp3s, I'm curious as to who's using what.

I came to the same conclusions, actually. RBarkhouse had my vote all the way to the end, when I heard Alex Argento's lead (it took a little longer to download than the rest for some reason, so it ended up last in my queue). There's one lick in there where he's doing a little guitarish blues lick which is one of my favorite licks to hear done on the keyboard, and when he took it to the next level by doubling it up.. it just put a smile on my face. :D

Huh? I wrote that if there was a ZIP file, which has got all files in it, everybody would have to download alll

I don't have a broadband connection, because there is no possibility to get one here, even though I downloaded all files (took me about 1 hour = approx. 70 cent) and voted afterwards.
I only said that because I could imagine that some people wouldn't download all, but after reading my message, maybe they would...
Why do you bring me down now? :(

Hi Martin,
first of all want to thank you for giving me your vote. The synth used for the solo (as always :P) is the JD800. The tremolo-like guitar is made simply moving the pitch bend to the right (little and quick movements)..

Peace,

Alex

Thanks Giannazzo, but I think you're exaggerating in praises
I know it could seem a silly solo (with some mistakes....), but that's because I recorded the very first take of the very first attempt 'cause I wanted to make it sound in the most improvised way
Thanks

Thanks Tigerfolly and Spacehog for your comments, I was glad to finally get some comments on mine :) For anyone that's interested I used a JP-8000 for my solo (see avatar over there <--)

Alex got my vote, that was an awesome straight-ahead synth solo -- no extra icing just delicious cake :D

However.. I gave my vote to Quili...Good and fresh solo man ^_^

Ops...Now I've seen that my mp3 is bigger than the other ones becouse I encoded it at 192 Kb/s. I'm sorry for that and sorry for people who dont have a broadband connection. Now I'll covert the mp3 to 128kb/s...the link will be alsways the same...Sorry again!!

Peace,

Alex.

I want to thank the person that voted for me (I sure didn't).
I used a Yamaha DX21 with my own lead sound pumped thru an Ibanez DDL stomp box. (Didn't have time to mess with Sonar long enough to get the delay I wanted.)

I used an S90. My sound was an FM-guitar, Saw Wave, and Square wave through compression and distortion, with a clarinet on top with more compression. I'm trying to get Jordan's tone but mine sounds too mellow. Over the fall break I'm going to make a performance out of it, giving me 16(!) layers. Hopefully that will make it more agressive.

Alrighty folks. This round of the jam track competition is over. I want to thank all of you who participated and voted for the entrants. The top 3 entries from Alex Argento, Quili, and Vlakey will be sent to Jordan within a few days and then we will announce the winner! ;)
