Hello all...
I am in an ethnomusicology class this semester, and I'm hoping to do my final project on Czechoslovakia music. I'm looking for some people to interview to get some first hand thoughts on the culture both historically, and contemporary.
A friend is singing a dvorak piece, so I have access to rehearsals and whatnot to get some of that in my ear. dvorak was a nationalist, and there are folk melodies throughout the piece. He put them in, often, to spite the government at the time. Part of my interviewing process will be to see how this is viewed in an effort to see if the piece is really appropriate to build my project around in an ethno class.
Also, due to the history of Czechoslovakia, obviously I could learn a lot from Hungarian folks as well...
