Hi people, does anyone of you have the rotating stand blueprint?
or anything, that can be used as an information for building that kind of stand?
and, if there is a problem with copyright, can you atleast give me some pointers in building one?
thank you

Heej I just got one, If you can specificly ask a question maybe I'll can help you?
You probably want to know what the rotating device is.

Hey, I have been wanting a rotating stand of my own for about a year now and last week I finally made a start on it. Its basically a replica of Jordans "truss" type stand, but instead of making it of stainless steel I decided to go for aluminium as its alot lighter, and cheaper to manufacture.
The main body and legs are now pretty much complete, thats all I need to do now is weld the top layer and make the bearing holder (rotating part).
Ill try and get some pics up later tonight to show how its coming along. :)

Mr. Attic Keys....
Point 1: The "system" you have is "old" and expensive...
You need bearings, nylon rings and a metal turner...
Point 2: I'm busy with putting some things on paper, like the rights
and eventually maybe even a Pat. Pend....
Easiest thing to build one yourself is a bolt and a nut (for instance M20/M24).
Weld the nut on top of the stand and the bolt onto the keyboard layer...
Turn some teflon tape on the thread of the bolt and it'll work out nicely!!!
WHEN you have a turner in the family :), get yourself two nylon rings, press those in a lid and put the axis THROUGH the rings.....
And then you can turn around, turn around, turn around, turn around, turn around.......... until you get dizzy.
Secret revealed!!!
Stainlessly,
P@
BTW.... The truss stand is antique............. Stay tuned for more!!!

In what way is it old, is there a new system???
Not that it matters cause it's absolutely perfect.
But there is one thing missing, a nice attachement table piece for my labtop.
When the time comes that I really want to use te labtop live, Am I welcome at your place for such thing???
Would be cool though, cause I don't really want to mess with the stand myself.

A sort of the same attachment Jordan uses for his MPP? You're welcome and........... you know where to find me, attic keys!
And nonononononono, I am NOT building something new....
In case, I even QUIT standbuilding....
Still around for technical advice/help, but no more welding/building anymore!!!

I am planing to commision one stainless steel builder to build me a stand alike to jordans octavarium tour one.
I made the autocad 3D model of it,
i'd only like to know what are the dimensions of the tubes? the diameters
and, how did you make the legs? i mean, can they get off?
StandBuilder

Diameter of the tubes = 42.5 mm/ approx. 1.6"
The "triangle" bars are about 20 mm/ approx. 0.8"
The legs CAN get off.... They're attached to the tubes with M12 bolts....
Don't forget, that building a truss out of stainless steel is a lof of work, especially the TIG welding, not to mention the cleaning..... I don't know if this builder is a friend or relative or else, you maybe have to pay a lot of money...
The other option is, to buy yourself a "lighting truss", made out of aluminum...
Cheaper AND lighter....
Just an idea from a StandBuilder....
Btw. Why not build a stand like Jordan used during the tour DT did with Yes?
Lighter, not so much work AND cheaper...
Good luck!

The stand builder is not related in any way with me....nor a friend (altho my familiy did comissioned him before, to build us somethin for our bathroom, out of stainless steel, and he did a darn good job)
nor did i ask him anything yet, so all of my work, and planing can still go up in the air for nothin, BUT...there is hope.
now, onto your suggestions:
the aluminum truss, could it handle 60kg min?
and, that yes tour stand seems nice too, but, what is that giant "tube" that the keyboard is actually mounted on...?
btw, thnx for the info about the tubes, appriciate it!
(oh, and if youre interested in my 3d sketch of the stand...pm me your email, and ill show it)

The "tube" is an 8"/200 mm diameter stainless steel pipe.
Much cheaper and why do you think that Jordan calls that one "The Silver Monster"?
And yes, an aluminum truss can handle 60 kg, that's for sure!

well, now you gave me a new idea..but, still, im not really sure, how would the mehanism of that silver monster look like, and how would it be attached to the pipe...
since its all plain "silver" theres no visibility inside :frown:

I have used a stainless steel pipe with a diameter of 204 mm and a thickness of 2 mm...
You get yourself 2 rings, that'll be needed for the "top section".
The bearing holder itself has a diameter of 80 mm and a height of 70 mm...
I use SKF bearings (type 6205 2RS1).
The stainless steel rings are laser cutted... The outside diameter is 202 mm and the inside diameter is 80 mm. And... You need to have 4 holes with a diameter of 12 mm, to attach both rings onto eachother.
The bearing holder is TIG-welded into ring no. 1...
Ring no. 2 is also TIG-welded onto the pipe. You also need to weld 4 nuts (M10) on this ring, so that you can attach the bearing holder w/ring no. 1 on ring no. 2 (bolts M10 x 20). Those nuts "disappear" into the ring, so that they're not visible and so that you're always able to take
the bearing holder out.....
Clear?
Good luck!
Stainlessly,
PS
Hey Patrick if its possible could you tell me how you managed to stop the bearings from falling out of the holder (eg the bottom bearing) and stop the center rotating axis wich you bolt the keyboard layer to from falling through the barings? in some pictures i have seen it looks like you have used some kind of "clip" ring.
Thanks in advance:)
Greg.

You need a good metal turner... He can make the hole for the bearing precisely this big, that they won't fall out...
To keep the axis in place, I use these clips...
Here in Holland, we call these clips: "Seegerring".
Use Google and you'll know what I mean...............

Hey,
Thanks for the reply Pat, yeah I've got access to a top notch Metal Turner, I will check out those rings on google now.
Nice one!
Greg
