Here are a couple of original tunes from a show that my band did in Toronto late last year.
The songs was recorded live at a bar called C'est What on December 5th 2003. The recording itself is pretty good for a live bar setting. The guitar is a little quite though (surprise, surprise...).
Not _nearly_ as technical as any of the stuff that you guys are used to listening to I am sure. We specialize in funky stuff, not heavy like you are probably used to hearing ;) .
Most of both tunes are improvised groove, except for where you hear singing. When there are vocs, we play set parts, and then open it up pretty good in the middle.

In the 'jamband' circle, this is called a set blender. The other band comes on, takes over the jam, and then the first band leaves - no breaks... Cool to experience).

you guys have a tight sound. i hear a lot of aspiring jam bands that have no taste and are way too busy, etc...but you all seem very musical. good vocals and harmonies. the only thing i'd change is...i don't think i'd use as much electric piano as i hear on these recordings. i think real piano would sound better, especially on the 2nd, slower song...just my 2 cents, though. your lead sound is cool, though. it's different, but it fits. good shit, and cool website

Thanks Jeff,
Point taken. I do tend to use a lot of EP. I have changed my rig since that show, and hence the EP sounds that I use vary a lot more.
I also use different instruments depending on the show... I have played shadowblind with a piano sound before for sure.
Our singers sing well together for sure. I have better songs from that show, but these are the only ones up on our sight...
I meant to tell you Jeff, that I am a big fan of the sound of your band. I love the way that dude sings.

Thanks for the compliment, man! Yeah, he's a crazy good singer...we found him by chance...when we were looking for band mates at my college, he like hand-wrote ONE sign and put it up in the basement of some building that said like, "singer looking for rock band" and we responded...he was like the last of like 30 something auditions conducted over like 7 months' time...we were starting to lose hope, but then we heard him sing...yeah...sorry for the anecdote, but...yeah, he's good.
anyway, that's cool that you switch up different patches for songs...that's something i don't tend to do unless we jam out the end of a song...i wish we had a recording of the one time we did that w/ our song, "california wave" ...it was a really cool jam, but...lost forever ...oh well...we can always do it again
but definitely post some more songs when you get them...we're taking like a month and a half break for summer right now, but then in like mid june my band is all getting together for like 2 months solid of like practicing every day, so we'll probably have a lot of new stuff (hopefully) on the site, so i'll post that when we get it.

I'm listenning to Switzerland. I like it. You guys know your shit and the whole song is enjoyable.
Phred, you got a really good band. This stuff is pretty damn good, and the recording is kickass for a live performance.

Hey thats pretty cool stuff. In my opinion add a little brass....In my eyes funk and brass go hand in hand. Regardless, i liked it.

Thanks for the comments. I love playing with these guys...
Brass eh? I use some brass in some of our covers (Superstition, which we did at this show, so I may get it up some time) but haven't yet on any originals...
This show was one of the first that I used my new Roland VK7, so I wasn't all that good at making drawbar organ sounds yets. I have gotten much better.
I will post some new tunes from more recent shows, however, the recordings are not remotely as good.
Thanks everyone.

I was diggin the groove on the shadowBlind cut. So much so that I ran it through my system and played along on the motif with my jazz grand piano patch. I was definetly feeling it. Long live the groove!!!

Thanks. That band is now done :( . I have traded in my song writing hat for a cover project. Less work and more crowd pleasers...
Thanks for the compliment though...
