question about dead kurzweil synths

hi. Lately I have seen on different websights people selling kurzweil k2600x and XS much much cheeper than the retail price. Is there any particular reason for this? I have also seen many kurzweil boards being sold with something rong with them like "has watter damage" or "sides are cracked on all corners... disk modual doesnt work... power supply pushed in". If a board is in need of this much repair do you think that it would be a good idea to purchase one and to repair and sell? thanks

In my opinion, I don't think it's ever a wise choice to buy electronic devices of any kind that have been subjected to water damage or other physical abuse that would cause certain parts to be cracked or smashed/pushed in. You never know what kind of damage there REALLY is and/or how much the repairs would cost.
