Hi K2600 users,

I have a question regarding zone volume in a setup.

I have created a setup with 8 zones. When I select the setup 4 of the zones are active and the other 4 are muted. With Psw1 I switch the active zones to mute and mute zones to active. So I have to different orchestal sounds that I can select immediately what I want just pressing the Psw1 button.

The thing is that I want to make fade-out fade-in effect with both sounds just when I switch from one to other. I mean, when I finish playing with the first one, I'd like to fade-out that sound at the same time the other sound fades-in.

In order to do this, I have assigned one of the Sliders as volume controller in each of the zones assigning as Linear in the first 4 zones and as rLinear in the 4 last zones so that I could decrease the volume of the first 4 zones while it increases the volume of the last 4 zones.

But this trick doesn't work properly since the slider affects only in those ones that are active. So what I do is to:

1-. Play the notes that I want to sound with the first 4 zones.
2-. Decrease to half of the volume the active zones moving the slider to the middle position.
3-. Switch the zones with Psw1
4-. Play the notes that I want to sound with the last 4 zones taking into account that they wont sound because I haven't moved the slider when they were active and so they're volume is set to 0.
5-. Increase the volume of this notes moving the slider.

The problem with this is that the notes firstly played still keep sounding until they're stopped because of the poliphony limit. :(
Any idea how to do it better?

Thanks for your patience, :)

Arkaitz.

PD. I know that my English isn't the best but hope you could understand something. Thanks.

I would do two different setups. Or four. Get a switch pedal, for example the Boss FS-5U. Assign the pedal to increase value, so you can change setups with it. Let's your hands free... Use MIDI channels 1-4 for the first setup, channels 9-12 for the second, 1-4 for third and 9-12 for the fourth. Use the same studio for all setups. This way you get patch hold. Also, if you need to add additional zones, you can still sustain your sounds when moving to the next setup. If you want to fade in and out, make 4 setups, first one to play the first 4 zones normally, second with the first ones programs with the AMPENV parameter changed to fade out more slowely, third to play the second part with AMPENV to fade in, and so on. Make sense? If you run out of polyphony, check if some of the programs you use are stereo programs. Change them to mono. I would also recommend to put this thread to: http://community.sonikmatter.com/synth/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=1

Hope I'm helping...

Hi,

It seems a little bit complicate, don't you think so? Besides, I believe it'll work but just a lot of setups in order to get one only register.
Good idea to use AMPENVS!!

If you use amp enviroments you have to edit the programs itself - then you should use an ASR for that, which you can trigger with one switch besides the wheels, and which controls the volumes of the program-layers.
