Keyboard strumming

I know there is nothing like the real thing but i was wondering if anyone has any special technique for realistic (if posible) strumming.
The way i do it right now on my Alesis QS7 is that i make a split with the same guitar program but the upper and lower split play the exact same pitch, so I play the rythmic strumming alternating the left and right hands.
So does anybody else have a special technique?

Though I don´t do strumming myself I remember JR talking about using the technique you described for DT´s Iron Maiden cover shows on the "Live at Budokan" DVD documentary.
