Hi everybody!

I have a question about Windows Xp Pro.... I´ve heard from many of my teachers and pro musicians that you can somehow optimize your windows xp just for audio and midi... so that it does not use graphics alot.. of course it uses the basic but it does not concentrate on audio... so can somebody who know these things please guide me... I would be very thankful....please excuse me of my bad english :)

/THX

You can tweak most of the performance related settings in Windows XP on the Advanced tag of the System Properties... click "Settings" in the Performance section of the top, and you can tweak the dialogue box to your heart's content to adjust settings for performance versus appearance. On the Advanced tab you can also adjust other settings like processor scheduling, memory usage, swapfile etc. You should set Processor Scheduling to "background services" if you use an ASIO soundcard driver (also for some WDM drivers).

Hope that helps :) I also have my swapfile a fixed size, turn off system restore and all indexing etc, all background tasks that I can get away with, and I have a really basic 64Mb graphics card that has a very low driver overhead (it's a Pine card, I believe).
