So my friend and I went to this guitar center so that I could touch a Kurzweil for the first time...it's decided, if the K2500XS is this good, what better way to start off an interest in keyboarding technology than with a K2600XS right? So that being decided...

It was pretty funny cause sound number 40 in the K2500XS bay at the store was a sound called "JR Lead".

I pretty much ignored it, not making the connection that JR stood for Jordan Rudess and at first I was like "what the hell instrument is a JR?" so I went to the guitar leads and was like "wow these are awesome, no wonder he uses them."

A few minutes into fooling around I started playing with the solo for the opening to Solitary Shell, but it didn't sound right...I used the knob to change sounds and it stopped on the JR Lead sound and...

IT WAS THE EXACT SAME ONE AS SOLITARY SHELL!! It was perfect.

Just a question: is that suppossed to be there, cause I was curious as to how it got there...but then again, since JR did have a contract with Kurzweil it'd make sense...but that JR lead on the K2500XS...is it suppossed to be there?

And is the JR Lead sound on the K2600X ??

The lead he offered in the 2500 was a preliminary lead he used to use before DT/LTE and it didn't have as much bite as his new lead. Anyway, the lead offered in the 2600 is called the Liquid T lead and that's JR's lead *or VERY close* to what he used in LTE/DT until the latest album. For his most recent lead, *the wah one* check out Progsounds, where they're all available ;)
Oh yeah - the Solitary Shell lead isn't actually his old lead either - there are some fundimental differences but again, check progsounds because there are soundclips there as well with the actual lead :)

I can't hear the difference between this lead and the Solitary Shell lead, they are very close...

There's a hidden harmonic *octave* sound in the solitary shell lead, the portamento is different, the SS lead has a slightly slower attack, sounds based around a dull saw or sine where the JR lead is based around Organ waveforms... There's more but sound wise you're right - they're pretty close :)
