It does sound rather nice on its own (or in a mix), but I haven't had the chance to side-by-side compart it with a Clavia nord Electro 71, which is supposedly the best organ emulation on the market.

Urg, I really don't like the clavia. Anyhoo... there are a couple of options... there's the Hammond XK3 which is in their new generation range, it's pretty awesome (there's also an XK1 - but it doesn't have the same functionality - the XK3 is the direct comparison to the CX3). There's VK8 from Roland as well which personally I don't think has quite the same quality of sound as the XK or the CX BUT it's got better orchestral sounds (which I guess you won't be needing?).

One advantage of the CX3 - you can change the second set of drawbars into extended mode which gives you extra harmonics which you can use to get some very interesting sounds. You can't do this on the Hammond, although it does still have the 2 sets of standard drawbars. Another advantage would be that I THINK the CX has more user presets.

The XK3 generally beats the CX3 on customisation of sound - you can get it sounding like pretty much any hammond there ever was. BUT again, you may not need that sort of thing.

Oh yea.. the keys on the CX3, VK8 AND XK3 are all traditional "waterfall" style keys... so not QUITE semi-weighted.. but getting there. Hope this helps.

Not sure it will help... but if you like the sound on the new gen hammonds - there's a midi module as well called XM2.

Donīt like clavia? Well, when I played one it sounded beautifully.. and many of mine favourite organ parts from a record is on flower kings songs, and the keyboardist there uses Nord Electro!:P

In truth, I've never really been a fan of Nord in general. Obviously they make good products otherwise they wouldn't occupy such a large market share - it's just not "my thing".

I LOVE ORGANS ,but my room is full and my bank-account empty:tongue: ,...
so my advise ...

Get Native Instruments B4 II tonewheel organ, and hook up your keys to your pc, this vst rocks hard, it's a software hammond B3.
I know hardware is better, but if you don't mind tweaking in a different way this vst will work for you....

(btw I think you can use this one as a standalone program too, I just got it running in cubase...)
