Logic 6 on Macintosh, both here and at MI

I used Digital Performer 2.7 for Uneuclydean Expressions back in 1999.

I haven't done any recording yet, but Cool Edit seems like a fairly popular one. Unless someone can turn me on to something else (easy operation, flexible, and economical), I'll probably start with Cool Edit.

I use Sonar 2

My sound card is crap so I only use it for MIDI at the moment.

I'm currently using Nuendo 2.0
It's pretty easy to use especially for a novice comp. soft engineer like myself. I'm more of a technician as a performer and composer and with synths and getting the sounds I desire anyway. I absolutely hate spending my evenings with my head buried in thick manuals.

I like the newly enhanced sequencing features which is identical to cubase and the score/notation package is included as well.
The card I am using is the MOTU 2408 MKIII and it is interfaced with a Tascam DM24. The system sounds great and suit my needs as far as compatibility with some of the major studios in Chicago.

The way I see it though, is that there are so many software packages out there that sequence and record phenomenally. It seems you can't go wrong anymore.

I've got a little Roland VS1824CD for a project studio, and record mainly with that. I'll record to my PC with Sound Forge 6 for editing and additional mastering tweaks. Depending on what type of track I'm doing I'll use Cubase SX, Reason 2.0, or Acid 4.0 for extras.

I'm using Sonar 2 for the bulk of my work (looking forward to trying out Sonar 3 in the coming months though) although I've just started playing around with Acid too. Looking into getting Cubasis for my iMac to run my MIDI setup, and have yet to play much with Nuendo, although that time will come :) I came from *old* versions of Cubase on the PC (back when we ran on 386's) through Cakewalk 6, 8 and 9 (never did get 7!) and finally stuck with Sonar, which I am more than happy with for the most part (my system got virussed last week though so I had to result to Acid just to get some worship songs down as I was too ill to attend a church meeting I was leading the singing at! Bummer... back to full strength now though, both my PC and me are (hopefully) virus free :))

Sonar XL 2.0, Cubase VST, Reason 2.0, and Cool Edit 2000.

I use Sonar for multi-tracking, Cubase for softsynth control (Native Instruments Absynth, B4, Steinberg's The Grand), Reason for its granular synthesizer, and Cool Edit for cleaning up tracks.

I use Pro Tools LE with waves platinum effects. I love the editing of effects with protools, its real quick and painless. It's a lot more confusing then Sonar is though. I'm still fighting with the encoding.

Hey Astroshock,

Is that the Digi 001 or 002 that you're using?

It's the M-box. I would love to get a digi 001, but I just wanted to get used to working with protools. The outputs would make life a lot easier. I have a delta sound card with a omni controls. I ran Sonar 2XL, and was not sure how much better protools was so I didn't want to invest that much in it. It was really frusterating right away, but now I love it.

Cubase 5 here, but it sucks.
Enigma wanted to upload Cakewalk for me, but he cannot until his server isn't back to normal again...

Another question to you:
Who of you have BOUGHT the original of your recording program?

My buddy works for Cakewalk.
I hope they improve the look of Sonar. Everything else about it is stellar!
