So I started learning Debussey's "Clair de Lune," which, surprisingly, I had never bothered to learn. I'm still a little shaky on it, and it's not up to speed, but I was feeling bored and recorded myslef playing it. It's not perfect, and a few of the high/low notes are missing cuz i did this on my 61-key roland, but it's hardly noticeable. Anyway, here it is...any suggestions beyond keeping it flowing better and getting it to speed?

it's a Roland E-300 "Intelligent Keyboard" ...basically an semi-professional arranger keyboard. It only has like 250 sounds or so, but it has some nice sounds and a 16-track sequencer and a 3.5" floppy disk drive. 64-voice polyphony, a good piano sound...I got it a while back, but it comes in handy to have around. I think I paid like $1000 for it when I got it, so it's not like a toy keyboard or anything, although it does have built-in speakers. I've never seen another one anywhere else, but there is a user review of it on www.harmony-central.com

Jeff, I thought your version was excellent, especially playing on a 61 note keyboard !. Clair de Lune is one of my fav piano tunes since I first heard it whilst watching the film 'Franky & Johnny' with Michelle Pfeifer & Al Pacino. I went and bought the sound track after watching it, this song plays a big part in that film.

With regard to your playing on a 61 note keyboard, I play a 61 note keyboard for everything and when I play piano parts with a bigger note range I quickly use my left hand to trigger the octave + / - buttons on my keyboard (which are conveniently positioned above the pitch stick), but I have recently got a footswitch which I normally use for program change up/down, I set this footswitch for octave +/- so I can do it hands free and works really well. Just a tip on what I do to get around the 61 note keyboard barrier.

Well done.

thanks! it's a fairly well-known tune, but before my piano teacher told me to learn, i guess i hadn't really heard it that much. i thought i would recognize it more because i heard the name of the piece so many times, but i guess i only knew the name. but now i really like it!
