Don't know anything about the Alesis, but I do know something about digital audio connections! Is the output on the board a coaxial digital output (phono jack) or an optical one? And how about the soundcard? If they're both the same, it's usually simply a case of connecting a digital audio cable between them (most Hi-fi and electronics shops should carry them, Maplin do a wide range of them in the UK (I know cos I work for them ;))). If they're different, you'll either need an Optical-Coax convertor or a Coax-Optical converter (depending on which way round you need to convert) and a coax cable and an optical cable. The convertors are typically about $25/£15. Note that a standard analogue audio phono cable should not be used for the coax digital lead, although an analogue VIDEO phono cable will work at a push, if it's not too long a length (I wouldn't risk it over 10'/3m).
