View Full Version : K2600 or 2500
Hi, I'm new .. so hey!
I want to get a master controller/workstation and I've decided on a Kurz, but I was wondering what the advantages are of getting a 2600 over a 2500?
Any personal experiences/advice would be really helpful.
Thanks.

Here ya go!!! Get the K2600 for sure unless you're on a tight budget. Also, the keybed in the K2500 was known to have durability/quality problems. : )

What are the 2600's like to use? Does it take long to get used to it?
Also, what other options would you say I have as far as an instrument that has the control power of the 2600?

Learning the basics is not hard; it didn't take me long to figure out how to use setups with layers and so forth. However, customizing sounds or making your own seems to be a lot more complex - I haven't started trying to learn about that yet. Some people claim that the Kurzweil interface is much harder to get used to than the touch screen interface of the Korg Tritons; I haven't used a Triton, but I didn't find the K2600 interface exceptionally difficult to use.

Thanks for that, yea, I've heard the same thing.
You mentioned the Tritons... what do you people think... should I get a triton, a kurz, or what about the fantomX Roland series, or the Yamaha Motif range? I'm really kind of lost as to which I should go for. I've also considered getting Trinity ProX to save some money.

I would say: go to a local dealer and try as many boards, as you can manage. Find out, wich one is the easiest for you to use and let your ears decide. Never buy a board, because of the specifications and the recommandations of others. It's an instrument and you have to feel it, before you pay a lot of money... ever seen a guitarplayer, buying his new dreamguitar without playing it?
For me, the interface of the K2600 isn't hard to use, but I've learned programming on a K2000 so... Funny thing: in shops, I had most problems with the interface of the Fantom X, don't ask me why, it is so. As a matter of personal taste, I like Kurz best, followed by Triton Extreme (for synthsounds) and Motif ES (for natural sounds), but that is a thing of my ears.
Best regards

Thanks, yea, I think I'll go and take a closer look at the Triton and the Fantom soon. As a matter of interest... does anyone here have any experience with the Trinity?

There are many other threads on the forum about the subject, so use the search button and I think you will find information about all of them. But as said before, the best thing is to try them out! Good luck!
