Well guys,
I've been without keys for a while (been playing guitar even though keys is my main thing) but now I've managed to order a new Studiologic VMK161 Plus, its the first keyboard I've seen with proper graded piano weighted keys but in a compact 61 note size and USB bus midi/power and made of metal, also has a great joystick pitchbender, I'll be setting this up to control Reason 3 and start composing tunes again and programming new tones, especially lead soloing tones and will sit on my desk. I had a choice of this one or the novation remote SL61 which was also cool and has better control of reason but is not built as well or has proper weighted keys so I chose this one.
Here's some info on it and I'll post a pic once it arrives and is setup.:)

I'd be very interested to hear what your experiences are with it. I'm considering the VMK188 plus but all the Studiologic stuff seems pretty hard to find here in the U.S. I've also read a lot of worrisome comments about some of the electronics and switches in some of the other Studiologic keyboards but I'm hoping the VMK Plus keyboards are better.

Hey Dan, I'll be sure to post a pic of my new board once it arrives and also give a run down of my experiences of it once I've put it through its paces.
I used to have a Studiologic 760 which had a dodgy power button, I sold it cheap cause I could'nt be arsed to get it fix, so I had my concerns also about Studiologic/Fatar stuff. But these new VMK range look alot more sturdy and better built than other previous models and they are Bus powered so don't need to keep pushing the power button on/off. And I know the action is gonna be awesome cause I've never felt a bad studiologic before.

Cheers Dude, will do.
Can't wait to get some stuff recorded with this thing. This forum is way too quiet nowadays. What happened to all those lovely jams and stuff we used to do ??

Congrats on the purchase dude! It feels a bit weird seeing a 61 keys with 'weighted' action... :)
I think i've seen you buying a few controllers (if i'm not mistaken).. why don't you just buy a 2nd hand synth as your controller?

Hey Synthz,
thanks bro, I never seen a fully weighted 61 note controller before, I love a weighted action but its not practical to have an 88 note keyboard in front of my PC, my desk is only little so this is a great solution. I've bought tons of controllers in the past but nothing decent, I did think about getting a synth as a controller but I'd never use the synth as a synth so would be a waste. Im very much into software based instruments now, for me they are very powerful and easier to work with. Anyways, will be nice getting back into doing keyboard work again. :)
