Hi all,

I have recently purchased Event TR6 near filed monitors and they sound very good!

Now the question is: How is the room like behind you in your "studio"?

The thing is that the roof of my room is slanting and I can almost touch it lifting my hands when I am sat in front of my monitors. I believe that this can influence in the final sound. The best might be to have a square room. :?

What do you think?

Thanks a lot,

Arkaitz.

A truly square room (where the walls are the same distance apart both ways) is the worst place to monitor... you'll get standing waves galore and the bass response will be very uneven. Any room that isn't specifically designed acoustically will require considerable amounts of acoustic treatment to help even out the sound a bit. My current room here is a funny shape, it's not great at all acoustically, but my new studio in my new house is 14' by 13' and is in the roof so has some sloping bits to the ceiling and a flat area in the middle. I will be putting acoustic tiles for soundproofing on the wall behind where my monitors will be, and then bass traps in the back corners to reduce the effects of standing waves and even out the frequency response. Any other acoustic treatment needed, I'll have to wait until I get there to assess.
