I hope you're not referring to the Over The Rainbow-clip (or the Fantasie Impromptu, but that's obvious!), which was recorded on a real Steinway grand piano.

Lyngs,
Managed to check most of your stuff, excellent playing throughout dude, especially liked the DT Let me breathe solo/Unison..Your Chromatic runs are very nice, your playing has maturity. Still only 19...
Keep rocking, Justin.

I think that the Kurzweil piano should be unbelivable if you pass it throught a low pass filter... the only thing I don't is that the piano is too bright, and those "hammer" sounds!
But anyway is amazing!
and back to the topic, I'm loving your song ( Frozen Fantasie ) day by day!
Congratulations :D

I've downloaded a lot of the stuff you've posted but i've had one problem trying to listen to Over the Rainbow because it keeps telling me that there is an error and the webpage is unavailable ... anybody able to help me with this one? .. i really want to hear a jazz version of this song. :)

Completely amazing stuff you've got here man! Special highlight, certainly, on your piano pieces. Great playing!
First of all, I'd like to say that i absolutely love Frozen Fantasie, it's one the best compositions i've heard and i enjoyed thoroughly listening as well as playing it. Thanks for sharing the sheet music with us!
I also loved your rendition of Over the Rainbow. Is that an arrangement of yours, or if you learned it from a sheet, was it written the way you played? If so, it would be wonderful if you could share that with us. Great use of voicings and grace notes.
Those live videos where you were playing a grand piano also rock! I just wish they were filming from the other side so that we could see what you were playing :? Dude you make some pretty funny faces while you're playing :D But your playing is overflowing with feeling. Thumbs up!

Lyngs,
Just picking up a point that OrpheusTheBard made... I was wondering if it would be possible for you to share a transcription of your version of Over the rainbow ... it's such a beautiful rendition of the song and I would be sooooo incredibly happy if i was able to play your version :D .. just a thought really :)
ps, frozen fantasie is awesome lol... i love it!

Thank you so much Orpheus and Kreator! :)
On page 2 I've shared the chords - I can't share the actual leadsheet, as it is not my own arrangement, but done by my teacher.
Thank you so much for commenting!

Thanks for noticing me of that. Having the chords (especially as explicit as you did, with all the 9 , 11 and 13 there.) is already a big help in figuring out, and the melody is not that hard to learn by ear ;) Actually, I already learned a version of this song a few years when I was having piano classes, but i was nowhere as jazzy and cool as yours :P
Could you just explain me something? This chord: G+/h .. What does the + stand for? Is it G augmented five with bass on B?

Yup, I think you're right. Haven't checked with the song, but I'm pretty sure that's what I meant. In Denmark, for historical reasons, we use "h" instead of "b". G+/h = G augmented five with bass on b.
:)
really nice UMsolo !! i especially envy your transcribing abilities, that sounded really good !
i liked your tdoe ragtime solo too, and i was curious how you would play the part i have constant trouble with (F#5 G5 A#5 B5 C#6 D6 D#6 E6 F6 F#6 B5) which is supposed to be played with one hand but on two octaves at the same time. ... and you cheated just as i do (j/k :) )
Lyngs
06-20-2004, 12:31 PM
Oh, the octave run? I just skipped it and played it with one hand - I was too lazy to take the time to work it up to speed. It is extremely difficult - and my octave speed has never been something I've worked on. But, nevermind. I was thinking of programming something, that would just bring in the upper octave, but it is too fast to do a setup change and both hands are on duty, so it's impossible to trigger a switch. Of course you could bring in the upper octave with a push of your nose on a button... hmm... :P

I didn't put a crooked face...that was IbanezRocks not me..!!!!
For some reason he quoted my whole post and then decided to put that face as his reply...so ask him what it was about !!!
All i did was give props to Lyngs for his classical composition.

 No worries Ael..!!!
As for why he felt the need to quote me and then put that face as his reply...i dunno...perhaps he doesnt agree that Lyngs' playing abilities are above mine ????
Or maybe he just doesn't approve of giving credit where credit is due ???
Maybe he just decided it'd be fun to pick on me 'the new guy' ??
 thing is i stand by what i said in my post and i'm happy to encourage and show respect to a player who obviously IS far better than me !!!
So what's Ibanez' excuse ???

Btw, how do you get an account @ cyberjammin.com?
It is a "closed" community, due to too many "troll"-experiences. If you want to become a member, then you have to know someone from the Cyberjammin forums and get him to recommend you.
It is a very, very kind, informative, nice, cool, etc community.
Are you interested in joining Cyberjammin? Unfortunately I don't hang out there as much as I would like to, so I might not be the most obvious person to recommend you, but I might figure something out for ya.

Hey guys!
Haven't posted much here in a while, but finally I have some new stuff for ya to check out very soon.
1½ month ago, I had a studio session with some friends where we recorded an original progrock tune called "Dozed". It is not not for a release or anything, it was just recorded for fun, so I'll upload it very soon.
It is still being mixed, but we're getting closer and closer to a final version - today I recieved the third mixing-version, and I think the next version will be the final. It sounds quite good, actually, it is very heavy, progressive and DT-inspired, while still radio-friendly (4:08). :D
So just a little teaser - there's some very cool riffs in there, I'm excited about letting you guys hear it!
And besides that, my website is finally getting closer to getting done. The current website-programmer is named David Poulin, and the status rigth now is, that the first version of the site should be done sometime in the next week.
I'm very much looking forward to finally have a website up.
Hope you're all doing well!
Regards,
Ulrik ;)

No, you shouldn't expect any more music from this constellation - we just jammed a couple of times last summer, but that was all. They contacted me a couple months ago and told that they were recording this piece (we had rehearsed it when jamming together) and asked if I would record keys on it. So I went downthere (in a city called Viborg) in the studio an afternoon and recorded the keys.
This stuff is not meant to be taken too serious thus the public acces for download. It is more a sketch tune like Erotomania. ;)

Could you also please email me a copy of the transcription too? This is nice.

There isn't any transcription for this, but making one shouldn't take too long for me if there is more people interested.

Impressive, really impressive. Great keyboard lines, good soloing and great production as well. Is it all home recording? And who's playing guitar and drums, is it you? If yes is the answer and you composed all that stuff, then I really bow down 'cos this work is f****** amazing!

I would be interested in the transcription, but what's most interesting is the chord progression you use in the whole song. I really like how you develop your melody through these bars, very well-laid, very clever indeed.
Keep up the good vibe!

First of all - thanks a lot man. :)
As I think I've stated on the previous pages, this was recorded with three of my friends. Look on the previous posts for information on this recording.
Guitars: Lars Strøm (he is very, very talented - and I'm starting a DT-tribute band with him and two other extremely skilled musicians on bass and drums in early august)
Bass: Christian (I don't remember his last name)
Drums: Kasper Løgstrup
Most of the writing were done by Lars - he wrote the riffs which he then jammed on with the two other guys. The tune were more or less written when I jammed with them last summer. We then rewrote some parts, arranged the unison, etc when I jammed with them and then a little more in detail when I joined them in the studio for the recording of the keyboardparts some months ago.
The recording was done in an studio in Viborg related to a youthschool where Lars is working.

Mkay - I just finished the transcription, but it went pretty fast so there might be a couple of mistakes in there, but what the hell.
What is your email?

A transcription is now online, for those interested.
I didn't write everything out at all - but this should be a pretty informative leadsheet.
Thanks to Deceit for putting this up! :)

Wow, in terms of sheer playing and fluidity, that killed most of the rest. :) I need to get my pitiful version up sometime.

I can't find all the songs people are talking about on the first couple of pages...did you take the links out or is something wrong on my side?
If you took them down, would you mind putting them up again or e-mailing it to me (magic_stylerAThotmail.com)? I'd love to hear what the rage is about! :D
In any case, gonna check out Dozed now. ;)

Hey guys!
Haven't posted here in ages, but I just stumbled across a funny musicvideo of mine that somebody posted on Youtube.
It's from my time at a danish folkhighschool here in Denmark the spring of 2006, where I made a tribute to the school's kitchen duty as a remake of Beastie Boys infamous "Fight for Right", for which I later recorded a silly musicvideo together with my kitchen duty-team.
The lyrics is in danish, but I'm sure you'll all find it funny, nevertheless. The rolling text at the end is in english, though.
The music is recorded at the school's studio, and I'm playing all instruments, btw. Sorry for the resulting untightness! ;-)

Enjoy the sillyness! :-)

Possibly - I'm quite busy, so I'm more likely to be spending time on fixing my myspace site than checking this forum, but I'll do my best to check in once in a while!
Btw - as I posted on the very first post in this thread, this is the myspace of my dream theater jam band: www.myspace.com/dreamtheaterjamdk
I will have my own myspace shortly.

That was amazingly hilarious... I really dig that kind of humor, and the credits are superb. (Workgroup 4 haha!). And you know, I love it without understanding a single word in the lyrics, so... great job!
