I usually have a cloth over my XP-30 when I am not playing, but sometimes I forgoet to put it on my synth before going to bed...
However, after a while every synth gets dusty! How do you clean it then? I think it's a little difficult with my synth, because all my knobs have 9 little lights and getting the controllers on the left clean again is also not easy.
What do you do to clean your synths? Any hints?

I usually use pressured air in a bottle for cleaning the hard parts.

I play it so hard that the dust shakes off it.
The other day one of the cats puked on my XV I was screaming. Of course when I found it, it was all dried up. It came off with warm water and a rag.
I have a large duster that works great for whiping the board and keys off.
Compressed air & a damp (not wet) cloth.

Holy spit Ed,
If my dog did that to my Kurz. I'd be short one dog!
Usually compressed air in a can does the trick.

Compressed air is a good idea - didn't think of it yet, but isn't that a bit expensive, too?

Compressed air doesn't generally work out too expensive... get it from most good camera shops, the stuff I use is made by KenAir, and comes with a removable nozzle, so you only buy a new canister, not a new nozzle (saves a bit of money).
Got to confess I've not done much cleaning of my keyboards yet. My studio's not very dusty, a dry / moist cloth gets the worst of the dust off, any bad buildup can usually be shifted with some washing up liquid on a damp cloth, and the air for the hard to get at places :)

omg... I'm not so sure... If I had a DX-7 maybe I should have givren a try...
Speaking of DX-7 here's something that was told me yesterday, before the reharsal session of my new band by one of the guys running the place where we reharse:
there was this DX-7 in one of the reharsal rooms, and the guy told me that one day, before of a gig, it rained heavily, and the DX-7 was literally "filled" with water! Well... he told me that they just "emptied" it and the DX-7 worked perfectly! Wow! :)

Dude, if one of the cats puked on my gear, I would use the cat to clean it up.

I use keywear covers for my keys.. And by the way compressed air contains oils and additives that are NO good for keyboards.. Especially if it gets into the electronics.. Beware!

I also use covers, even though your boards will get dusty after a short time...
I would think that the compressed air that is designed for cleanning out computers would be fine, since a keyboard is essentially the same. Also, I know a local computer networking service (that's been in business for at least 10 years) that uses an air compressor to blow out the dust from computer cases. I'm sure the little cans of compressed air (sold for cleanning computers) would be safe.

ALL compressd air canisters have oils and aditives in them.. It's not good for long term use however.. I know this from years of experience. trust me..
