Hey everyone, I'm sorry to only come on here when I need help from you guys (it's like someone who only prays when they need something for themselves), but I've got another keyboard question.
My band is practicing a song in which the key patches need to be split (I'm probably not using the right terminology here, I'm no keyboardist myself  ) so that one effect is on one half of the keyboard and another effect is on the other half.
But we don't know how to split the effects. Any suggestions?
If it depends on the brand and model, it's an Alesis, and I can get the model posted tomorrow if necessary.
Thanks a lot!!

well, basically we need the model. There are 2 major types of Kurzweils - ones that do synthesis and ones that talk to deaf people or something. You have to keep in mind that being specific as possible is also a good thing ;)
What do you mean by sounds now? Effects? Sounds? Do you want bass on the Left hand and Strings on the right hand? Or do you mean effects like Reverbs and Delays?
Also, it could be an alesis Q6/7/8 but we need more info for being all specific and stuff ;)

Well I figured, its a general question; "how do you split effects?", not regarding any certain gear. But now I see that how to split them depends on your gear. :? sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.
About the specifics:
It's an Alesis Q8, and by effects I mean have one instrument one the lower end of the keyboard and a different instrument on the higher.

I'm not gonna try to explain how to do that, even tho it's not very difficult, but instead I'll ask how it would be done, if we'd be talking about *effects*, not only instruments? Wise people can tell?
Like a bass in the left hand with distortion, and a piano with delay and reverb on the right hand. I have a feeling the cheaper keyboards can't do this at all. I wonder if my JV-1010 can...
Splitting effects should be difficult on cheap instruments, but that's not what HandfulOfNothing talks about... he just means different patches!
Sorry, I don't know how to do on an Alesis, but if someone around here has this instrument he will surely know how to split the sounds (not effects).

Hmm maybe I'll email Alesis.
Kinda funny actually how I come here to ask before going to the source.
It should be enoguh just to take a short look into the synth's manual to see how to split the keyboard 8)
