Hi everyone!
So the other day I was listening to this song called Fooling Yourself from Styx (I don´t know who they are, I just happened to have them on my computer...)
and at 3:03 I heard one of my all time fav analog leads! It has so much texture, is like I can feel its "body", also the sound is quite "nasal".
Well basically I would love to be able to recreate this lead, so I hope someone here knows this song in order to help me, cause I still need to improve my skills in the sense of being able to recognize what type of waveforms could've been used originally.
The other thing is, could I get close enough with either a NordLead 2x or a Triton with MOSS board?

Any help will be highly appreciated!

Andrés

if I'm not getting anything mixed up, I think around that time he was using an Oberheim SEM 4 Voice (or perhaps an OB8). Either way, it always sounded pretty simple. 3 saws, with the 2nd and 3rd tuned a 5th and an octave apart from the first one. Add a little portamento and you're set. You might have to fiddle with the amplitude of the 5th oscillator to make it sit right. It doesn't sound like there's very much filter action going on there either.

Then again, I might be thinking of a different song, it's been a while since I've heard that one.

Thanks, that might be it, I'll give it a try!
Before I read this post I was trying by combining a saw wave + pulse width, it was an approach but still sounding different.... Much to practice!
Cheers,! Andrés
