Midi connection with MOTIF ES - HELP!

Hi guys,
I'm using Cubase and some VST instruments.
I hooked up my motif es with my PC. I can play the VST with no problem.
When I record the music it's like there's another sound behind and the notes I play are different from what I hear. What's wrong?
