Hello,

I just moved into the area, and figured, with the Eastman school just around the corner, there's bound to be a couple of forum members living up here.
So, who's from up here?

Not Rochester but I live in Ithaca about 90 minutes away.

If you just moved there, you probably dont know about Prog In The Park yet. Basically its a 2(?) day prog festival in october, despite the name, its not actually outside (it used to be I think, they just kept the name). Lineup is pretty cool including the Flower Kings and Steve Howe, a Gentle Giant tribute band, and some other stuff.

And if you are a musician yourself you should check out House Of Guitars in Irondequoit, just northeast of Rochester. One of the biggest and craziest music stores out there, and not only instruments, but they have a huge cd and vinyl section as well.

About 4hrs down I-90 from ya. If you get a chance this weekend, don't forget about the state fair in Syracuse.
Ithica, OM? Got family in Cortland. I'm in Ithica on business occasionally.

OM: thanx for the tip, I've already heard about PITP, but I haven't been to the house of guitars yet.

Cary: State fair? Haven't heard of it. What is it about?

State Fair has all kinds of stuff, just depends on what youre into. There's the usual "fair" stuff food, crafts, livestock/agriculture, etc... plus more entertainment based stuff like rides and concerts, etc...

Yup. Quite the spectacle. I've caught some pretty good acts there in past years (Yes/DT, Toto, ELP years ago etc). Food is always good. Lots of displays and stuff.

Oh, and by the way I'm going to school at Eastman School of Music (a junior) this year.

Welcome to crapchester, email me at eviani@gmail.com if you want to talk. I don't check back at this forum too often.
