So, I'm looking around on Musiciansfriend.com for a keyboard for my roommate, so I'm looking at arrangers, (lots of yamahas and casios), but then I notice the Korg PA1X PRO 76-Key Professional Arranger Keyboard (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=040406175154149159081160151254/g=key/s=portable/search/detail/base_pid/702258/)...and I'm like cool, until I notice that it costs $3,599!!!!! wtf!?!?!? WHY does this cost $600 more than a 76-key Triton Studio!?!? (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=040406175154149159081160151254/g=key/s=portable/search/detail/base_pid/702145/) (they only run $2,999!). Are you really telling me that this arranger keyboard is more powerful? Or has more features?

I'm REALLY confused by this...I mean, I've never really paid much attention to arranger keybaords, but I never expected them to be much over $1,000 at the VERY most. Can anyone explain???

They go beyond the inferior general midi sounds of yesteryear.

Nowadays, they have sounds which are comparable to more
of the higher end pro audio stuff.

The arrangers also benefit the songwriter leaving to concentrate
on creative aspects of composing with a huge palette of sounds
at the composer's disposal, with the relative ease of use
comparable to an entry level synth.

but they don't allow any sound editing, correct? shouldn't this make them cheaper even if they are better than they used to be?
