Looks pretty nice! That Fusion sure is flashy.

Ohh, nice! Is it a quiklok stand? I have to find a better way to have my keyboards.. and that looks like a nice way!:)

it's actually an Ax-Man stand. pretty sturdy, yet not very bulky.

yeah, the fusion looks great (especially in darker light) because almost every button lights up on it--even the pitch/mod wheels light up blue when you move them!

I tried the fusion a few times while I was in NY, but I wish I got to play with it more than I did. Would you say the pianos, strings, organs and things of that nature were pretty focklin' good? I want a semi-budget 88-key workstation, and that looks to be almost perfect.

What do you think of it?

i really like everything except the leslie effect. it's okay, but the karma, for example, has MUCH more realistic leslie effect. you can get some nice sounding organs on the fusion, but the leslie makes them less powerful, IMO. i would never use the organs on the fusion in a professional level recording, but they'd do for home recordings or live shows.

all of the soounds on the fusion are great, plus Hollow Sun keeps releasing more and more free sounds (and not just programs--they provide new samples to download into the harddrive. that's the great thing about the fusion--if it's missing a sound you want, you can just load it in, and it's there!

plus, the VA engine is killer.

Ok, so if i'm to get one, I should use something else for organs.

That's good enough for me. Thanks!

well, yeah...i mean, maybe i'm being a tad harsh on the organs. they're not terrible or awful or anything, just not my favorite. for most applications, they're fine (and Hollow Sun has provided some really nice samples of a B3 on various settings that sounds really good), i just don't think the Leslie Rotary effect is "in your face" enough.

honestly, though, the fusion is a great workstation and synth. it's very intuitive and powerful; i've actually learned a lot about synthesis in general from using it

EDIT: i had posted this in the show off a while back, but here is a test mp3 i made of me running through patches on the fusion. after the piano, i move to the organs, so you can hear what it has to offer. listening back, it sounds pretty decent

i edited the above post, but i doubt anyone noticed, so I'm bumping (mainly for Speedy Fingers II).

click that link to listen to the fusion, let it speak for itself.

My final question, how's the action on the 8HD? Is it too heavy? Too light? A little too light?

If it's just a touch too light, then that's fine for me.

The piano soudns pretty fockin' nice and so do the organs, but I definitely see what you mean about the leslie being a tad weak.

Nice playing btw.

thanks!

yeah, the action on the 8HD is lighter--nowhere near the syrupy, heavy action of a yamaha board, but at the same time, it's plays nicely.

if you get it, i recommend tweaking the piano (and i would use program ROM1: A-2 Studio Upright as your starting point, not A-1 Holy Grail Grand, as i think it sounds more realistic). A good idea to make the piano sound better (and more like what you're hearing on my mp3) is to add a compressor effect to it.

anyway, yeah, sounds like the fusion could be a good choice for you!
